Yep, 3-20 models. Initially the list was going to have 2 goblins, but I decided to drop one to get a fluffy 12 model strong list and decided to use the 2pts to give the hobbos shields
I think Herbys copper wire strand technique would work nicely for this, those strands are so fine and have nice holdability. Cotton thread is ok, I think Dental Floss is pretty popular. Also animal hair like hog or horse. Fishing line is good because you can choose the thickness easily.
Very nice regiment og renown you have done there my friend. It’s a nice little skirmish warband.
My friend Racso have attached strings to all he high elf bowmen. It’s looks really well. He has used regular brown string, attach with superglue in one end, let dry, stretch and attach the other end, then cut of excess string. he paints it with agrax earthshade afterwards.
Thanks tjub; one is a GW hobgoblin (think it might be a Sneaky Git) I got off eBay bundled in with a Bloodbowl team, the other two are converted from Night Goblins.
Just got back from my club’s RoR mini-tourney; results are lost game 1, drew game 2, won game 3 and lost the five-way leader dual. Specifics are hazy, but here’s roughly what happened.
My warband Bu’idu Ina’Uzkulak before the first game: Leader - Zîbum the Immortal. Over the course of the tourney he’s gain stat increases to give him 3 attacks and Movement 5! Dogs of War - Arhîz and Zhârgâz the Infernal Guards, and 'Urtnum Khanite the hobgoblin Warriors - Da Gîzbanz (two hobgoblins), the Drazhnâzaru (two black orcs), the Azûk (three Orc slaves) and Krink the Goblin Porter (a lowly goblin slave)
Game 1 was against High Elves and was a generic clash, no special rules, first to route loses. It started well with me advancing up to a gap in the ruins with my warband forming a semi-circle around the gap to hopefully mug any elves who charged through while my hobbos moved up on the flank to start sniping elves; potentially suicidal getting into a shooting match with Sea Guard, but actually turned in my favour as I took out an elf while the elves couldn’t shoot for toffee. Meanwhile a couple of Swordmasters charged through the breach. I took the charge and managed to take one out, but after a couple of rounds of combat, the other one managed to kill an Infernal Guard; the slaves promptly failed their panic tests and scattered…as did my leader D:
Game 2 was against WoC (Slaanesh themed); we each had a shrine in our deployment zones and had to try and defile the other’s shrine. I decided to castle my forces around the shrine with a couple of hobbos on top to snipe. The WoCs split in two, one coming down the middle and the other around one flank. I threw a couple of orcs forward to stop the centre change and managed to get one marauder to flee from combat, but the other held, allowing one of the other marauders to flank charge the Orc, killing him and panicking the other. My infernal guard and goblin charged the flank group and killed some, but one got through and almost reached the shrine, but got shot down an inch away. Meanwhile the centre group advanced and were met by my Blorcs who held and killed a couple, and even got the enemy leader to flee, but he rallied and went after the Orc who’d fled (who subsequently rallied, and along with a hobgoblin had started advancing up the flank). Unfortunately we had to call for time at that point.
Game 3 was against an all Marauder Khornate WoC warband and was a Kill the King scenario. I again castled; placing the hobbos atop the shrine and my leader on a lower level. The WoC advanced up to the ruins (as in various different walls roughly chin-high for man-sized models at lowest) rather than a single terrain piece), and went around them hugging them to stay out of line of sight (the player was dubious when I told him that he’d be better off that way instead of trying to go over them, but as a result he only lost a warhound to shooting and only because it could be seen clearly through a large gap between ruin sections. The marauders all piled in behind a copse so I couldn’t see them, and when all but one was there rushed forwards. I countercharged with the Blorcs and Infernal Guard into a few that were out front, killed a couple, promptly causing most of his guys to scatter. Some rallied a turn or two later, but by then, my guys had plowed forward into his leader, wounded him once, and caused him to flee. Due to time there was only one turn left, mine, and a hobgoblin promptly shot the Khornate leader in the back.
Game 4, we all deployed roughly equidistant in a circle with cottages and stables set up in a circle to be a small village. The Khorne guy went first, managed to charge the Slaanesh guy and promptly got cut down. The vamp player went next and his Grave Guard guy advanced forwards. I went next and tried to flank him, by failed the charge. Next was the elf guy who advanced, then the Slaanesh guy who also advanced. The grave guard charged me and I was able to wound him once. In my turn the Grave Guard hit me with killing blow and I failed the regen save. The grave guard then charged the elf and managed to killing blow him. The Slaanesh guy then charged in and cut down the grave guard, winning the match.
We ended by voting on painting and conversions. Only mine, the elves and the Khorne were painted, so we (and the other guys attending club who’d played other games) only voted on those three; the Khorne won the painting vote and I won the convertion vote :D. Only one guy recognised what the base mini for the Chaos Warrior → Blorc conversion I did was and said it was only because he recognised the boots, lol (one other did guess it was a Warrior, but thought it WS one of the old multi-part ones).
We’ve also decided to stick with our leaders next time we do RoR so it’ll sort of bad like a mini campaign, but will allow people to change their regular warriors if they wish. As such, from the four games I played, my leader has now gone up to 3 attacks, and a whopping Movement 5!
