So now the Kickstarter has closed, who here pledged for it, and what did you pledge for?
I was lucky and managed to snipe an Early Bird on the last day, and have also pledged to get the three expansions (Greenskins, demons and Dragon), the Black Fortress tile set, the counter upgrades, the two legendary hero sets and an extra undead Dwarf King in resin to convert up an undead Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer. All in all it’s over 100 minis including a dragon and undead demon lord, and three sets of furniture and doors, and I’ve also got a free upgrade to hardback rulebook for spending so much
Now to wait a year for it to be shipped, and then to find the time to paint it all, lol.
I was tempted, but there is that many dungeon crawlers out there, I can’t see one made by mantic could be any better than say descent 2nd ed. Or advanced heroquest. Or maybe even original heroquest. I will wait till I see some reviews.
Also, after seeing some mantic models in the flesh, I’m a bit wary for kickstarters. They have very varying degrees of quality.
Hope you get your copy of HQ25 before Mantic start their Dungeon Saga 3 Kickstarter
Sorry to hear that it’s been delayed so long for you - looked really interesting before it got pulled from Kickstarter (liked the look of the chained up damsel and a few of the other extras they reached before it got pulled).
Nice price aswell - $25 nets you that dragon, a set of doors, four large tiles, a couple of decks of cards and the dragon campaign booklet. So overall, the dragon itself probably only works out as $15; they've reopened the pledge manager so I'm trying to resist the temptation to pick up another one.
I think it’s because they aren’t using the same plastic as their regular minis; it’s the same plastic as the Mars Attacks game which used a softer plastic for some reason (possibly because they’re board game minis not wargame minis), but once painted I believe they don’t look that bad (anyone with MA who can confirm?).
Well they might eventually replace the current ones with those considering DS is set in the same setting as KoW. Too lazy to check if Goblins were an army choice in the KoW2 Kickstarter, but if they are, then they probably will use the DS design considering the KoW2 Abyssals are the same as the DS ones (in fact unless I’m mistaken, the DS ones are single piece/pre-assembled versions of the KoW2 ones so goblins might be similar).
I dont remember exacty, but i pledged for the big stuff, the one close to 100 euro or whatever that was.
And now i kinda regret it because i dont have even the tiem anymore to play Descent with friends ( has been 6 months since the last match) cant even imagine with this one.
The packaging looks brilliant for Dungeon Saga, the grimoire box design is genius. I’d have gone bananas seeing that when I was a titch.
Looks like they are trying to avoid previous mistakes with quality. I like the fact theres variation in the undead, more than just dead humans for a refreshing change. Dragon looks really good, reminds me of when I first saw talisman dragon’s tower, cool dragon all over again. And I am a fan of those shattered stone bases, nice touch. I’m interested to see what miniatures will be in the expansions and what minis will be made available in the store, if they adopt a dreadball / deadzone style with extra boosters.
