Hobgoblin Khan on Wolf:

1. Dragonbane gem, Potion Of Foolhardiness (Zhatan87)
2. Terrifying Mask of Eee (Baggronor)

Bull Centaur Taur’ruk:

NOTE: Black Hammer of Hashut is Chaos Dwarfs only.

1. Great Weapon, Blackshard Armour, Luckstone, Crown of Command. (Grimbold Blackhammer)
2. Great Weapon, Blackshard Armour, Dragonhelm, Crown of Command. (Baggronor)
3. Great Weapon, Blackshard Armour, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone, Tricksters Shard (Norngahl)
4. Sword Of Strife, Blackshard Armor, Shield (Bassman)

zhatan87:

Every daemonsmith should have a magic shield (if possible). The daemonsmith which takes care of the warmachines can have the ptolos shield. There is another shield (rarely played) which grants magic resistance 1 (arcanic shield or something like that). It depends of how many daemonsmith you play:)

But the first two shields are those you have said : enchanted and charmed:hat off

For the khan : dragocide gem, foolhardiness potion. (item as cheaper as possible…)

One of the daemonsmith (or BSB) can take the iron icon (6+ ward save against warmachines).

And you forget the dispell scroll…

For the prophet, you can go with the rod which makes him reroll one miscast roll : earth rod, or the health potion.

No idea for the tauruk. Maybe only blackshard armour, and great weapon, or additional hand weapon, or +1 to hit magic weapon.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

For my Bull Centaur Tar’ruk I’ve been running him with Blackshard Armour, Great Weapon, Crown of Command, and a Luckstone.  He’s tough, carries decent armour, a big punch, and Stubborn.  He’s an all-around solid caracter.

Castellan gets the Stone Mantle, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone and packs a Great Weapon. He’s very hard to get rid of!

corlm:

Grimbold Blackhammer
Stone Mantle and Dawnstone are both talismans. :(

I Usually run with a prophet and a castellan.

Prophet (death): enchanted shield, talisman of preservation, crown of command and sceptre of stability.

Castellan: dragon helm, talisman of endurance and black hammer of hashut.

saurus:

Bull Centaur Taur’ruk

- Blackshard Armour

- Black Hammer of Hashut

- Enchanted Shield

- Potion of Speed

- Luckstone

4 attacks at strength 7 plus potion of speed for initiative boost. Use it in combination will spell Ash Storm to assassinate enemy characters. Furthermore he has a 0+ armour save with a single re-roll.

OR

for something more offensive

Bull Centaur Taur’ruk

- Blackshard Armour

- Black Hammer of Hashut

- The Other Tricksters Shard

- Shield

Same deal as other build but a forced re-roll on any successful ward save, however only a 1+ save and no re-roll.

ChungEssence:

"Furthermore he has a 0+ armour save with a single re-roll."

I’m pretty sure armor saves cap at 1+ in Eighth edition.

I’m pondering a Tau’ruk with the Black Hammer myself.

KramDratta:

Updated first post. If I’ve missed anyone pls tell me.

I’m looking forward to try Corlm’s build for the Castellan!!!

saurus:

Hmmm, didn’t know about the maximum save you could get was 1+. On that note I believe the second BC hero build is the optimal choice.

Baggronor:

I'm pondering a Tau'ruk with the Black Hammer myself.
Its Chaos Dwarfs only iirc.

Tau'ruk with Great Weapon, Blackshard Armour, Dragonhelm and Crown of Command is a beast.

Time of Madness:

My best 2 combo’s are as follows

Sorcerer Prophet - Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted Shield, Healing Potion and Channeling Staff.

This gives the prophet a 2+ save followed by the 4+ ward save. He then has the healing potion to regain some wounds from any miscasts. The channeling staff gives him a 5+ chance for the extra dice each turn. If you roll spell-wrought for the darkforge weapon he has a 4+ channelling attempt each turn.

Castellan - Shield and Mask of the Furnace

The mask and shield are all he needs for a 2+ save followed by the 4+ ward. Don’t give him the great weapon as it reduces his save and you really need this guy to be alive for stubborn.

Time of Madness

Norngahl:

Mine are:

Daemonsmith: Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Ironcurse Icon, Scroll of Shielding

Daemonsmith: Charmed Shield, Dispel Scroll

Tauruk: Blackshard Armour, Great Weapon, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone, Tricksters Shard

Castellan: Mask of the Furnance / Shield

Castellan: Talisman of Preservation / Enchanted Shield

Castellan: Tricksters Helm, Dawnstone, Shield

togo:

None of you posted the Black Hammer and the Stonemantle duo.

I thinks its very powerful.T6 is unlikely to wound for the most units the IG goes to combat with,S6 is awesome if you fight big ones like ogres and the I2 isnt that bad.

My 2 cents.

zhatan87:

Earthing rod for the prophet sorcerer. Very often a good idea to save your general and IG (or Ironsworn) 12 pts each...
Healing potion also (as said by Time)

KramDratta:

Keep em coming !!! updated the first post again so that it is easier for those who want to try out some combos.

Shadows Revenge:

Sorceror: Black Hammer of Hashut, Mask of the Black Furnace, Blood of Hashut, Lv 4 w/ Lore of Hashut

Pretty much what I do with this guy is sit him in a block of infernal guard. His job is to either get and cast ash storm on something, then charge in and challenge, hopefully killing either their main lord or taking out a monster, or running in and challenging, throwing the blood and again killing their main lord. He has proven very good at both of his jobs, and has yet to fall in the 5 games I have used him in. So far he has an Arch-Lector, 2 Empire Captains, A Skaven Warlord on some named Rat Orge (forget which one), a Hellpit Abomination, and a Gorgon. He is just an an overall beast in challenges, but remember to get eternal hatred on

As for Castellan, Ive only used him as my BSB, so I havent had any real equipment on him (other than banner) but I must admit he is better than most BSBs, in that his weapon makes him S5 base

As for Daemonsmith, he is just my scroll caddie :stuck_out_tongue:

Shadows Revenge
Can you pls explain this?

KramDratta
I think he's confused himself the daemonsmith stat's with the added strength from the ensorcelled weapon

rabotak:

my castellan bsb always goes out with black hammer of hashut, dragonhelm, dawnstone, ironcurse icon and shield. i have yet to field a taur’ruk but i’d just give him blackshard, shield and obsidian blade.

Bassman:

OK, I’m very bad at setting characters with LoA list :frowning:

So thank you very much for this thread I will keep it as reference for upcoming battles :hat off

I would like to throw in my Taur’ruk:

Taur’ruk with blackshard armor, shield and sword +2 attacks.

This setting provides him with a good 1+ armor save (4+ blackshard, 5+ scaly skin, plus shield), 6 (!) S5 attacks.

My prophet never carry magic weapons different from the Dark forged weapon, it’s fun and 90% of the time I roll something really useful.

can only agree, + it defines my prophets role, be it offensive or defensive support (and support it is!).
