I fervently believe it is only a matter of time until a real competitor shows up too. Someone with the advertising enthusiasm of Mantic and the sculpting quality of AoW, and hopefully a good attitude.

I tend to think, if a true competitor ever emerges it will be the result of a consolidation of a number of modest companies but with strong established presence. Mantic now sells Hasslefree miniatures and Kev's implied a growing relationship with them... if Mantic somehow got a cash infusion, it doesn't seem unreasonable for them to work with even more closely or buy out companies with strong internet presence like AoW, Hasslefree, and Heresy... in the same way GW bought Marauder, Chronicle Miniatures, and Iron Claw Miniatures out back in the day to grow their product offering.
I bought 10 guard, 10 guard with guns, the command, and the engine. One of everything, basically. They arrived yesterday. I intend on doing a small video on them soon.
I will buy anything that I think is worth buying. All the CD stuff so far is great (minus the Giant).
As for competition, the key player in all the new plastics is Renedra. Keep an eye on them. They are the ones producing plastic kits for the Perry twins, Mantic, and Avatars of War.
Rendera isn’t really in a position to be “the competition,” since they aren’t really designing kits but just producing the tooling… but they’d be an excellect company for a GW competitor to absorb.
Just to add to the maine topic… I’m waiting to buy. I’m going to do a bulk order once the book is out. I haven’t decided quite what I want modelwise… a full squad of infernal guard with command… and characters… I’m tempted to buy the Iron Daemon but I really want to convert one up myself.
I’m glad that they’re doing well as it helps to prove how many of us have been wanting these. Yet to buy some, but nearly got enough spare cash to do so!
