[Archive] Fuggit Khan's other model stuff

Bloodbeard:

Oh yeah! Ride eternal Brother! V8 V8 V8! That’s an awesome vehicle.

Devil’s Run actually have a Caterpillar Track upgrade for cars. And those track fit inside the cadillac perfectly!.

I’m looking forward to seeing this build done.

And your painting is always so clean and sharp. Will this be the same? Or are you going dusty, rusty (with a bit of chrome).

Abecedar:

Ditto with the chrome wheels. Love the conversion

TheHoodedMan:

The red ones are faster !!

That red color is awesome. The tracks on the Cadillac look very steampunky to me. I am looking forward to the result.

Fuggit Khan:

Thank you gentlemen for the feedback, chrome wheels it will be!

Bloodbeard
I originally was going to give it rust, etc…but a good friend of mine spotted it on my Facebook, he showed it to his 7 year old daughter, and she loved it so much that I’m going to give it to her. My buddy is a true RevHead, and his daughter loves playing with army men and cars. And she wants it shiny, so no rust.

TheHoodedMan
Red wunz go fasta! Best rule ever :hat off

So shiny chrome wheels it is, with a spot of red. Plastic dowels were added as spacers, and the whole thing glued in place with crazy glue gel.

V8 V8 V8 !!!

And I also began work on another Yamato 2199 ship…the Gamilas Gaiderol class astro battleship. These are the standard flagships of the Gamilas space fleets, and naturally I want to paint it in the cool @ss splinter camo pattern

Built from this Bandai kit

Laying out the main upper hull parts it suddenly dawned on me that this is going to be a BIG model

I love all the spiky shark fins on the front…the splinter camo pattern is spray painted with Tamiya brand hobby paint and masking tape

Whew! Yes, it’s a big model :o
I think the last time I built a model this size was back in high school (which was before most of you were born)

Starting work on the underbelly…the entire lower hull is a mass of missile batteries. Impressive missile barrages!

Work on the bridge…

I dropped one (of four) of the small round anti-aircraft blister pods on the carpet…forever lost. I made a new one from green stuff…can you tell which one is green stuff copy? Neither can I…I don’t recall which one I made

Coming together now

Next came a challenge (for me at least). The plastic part you see in the foreground is molded in a yellow plastic, but I need it to be green to match the molded green of the hull. Because the splinter camo design has this part of the ship in green, not the standard yellow as on the standard color pattern. So I mixed 6 different paints to match the green plastic.

The mixed paint color is pretty damn close, not perfect, but close enough. Seen here next to a molded green back section that it connects next to

Hope you all like the work so far  :hat off

Slavemaster Hod:

I bet your starship fleet is looking impressive these days. You have it hanging from a roof somewhere?

Carcearion:

Oooh, I bet Hod is right. A fleet shot would be cool.

Bloodbeard:

That’s a pretty big ship! Wow! And that green is perfectly mixed. I would have given up, or ended up painted the entire thing in the same green colour. Good work, as always an insane amount of attention to detail.

A think that is really a favourite with all your ships is the blending on the jet motors. So smooth.

As the above: Fleet shot!

Admiral:

Flawless green areas on the spaceship, and bonus points for painting out the red dot windows or lanterns or gun mouths. And that tank car… shiny and chrome is the way to Valhalla! Top-notch conversion as always, and neat paintjob.

Fleet shot!

Jackswift:

That treaded Cadillac is awesome! I may have to borrow the idea and try something similar in a 28mm version for post apoc games… Too cool.

Also digging the Gamilas Battleship. Nice color matching job. Given the massive scale, are you planning to use it for gaming along with the rest of your fleet, or will it be separate?

Fuggit Khan:

Slavemaster Hod
Thanks! They're all in a display case...but as a kid I had tons of airplane models hanging from the ceiling :hat off

Jackswift
It's too big for massive fleet table top gaming, but there are solo scenario games in Star Fleet Wars, so I may use it for solo games.

So I finished the Gamilon Gaiderol battleship a few weeks ago, but just now got around to taking some pics. I'm pretty happy with it, and I love the splinter "dazzle" camo pattern. I'm thinking of starting an even bigger kit of a Gamilas combat carrier, which also has a cool two-tone camo pattern.
Anyways, here it is:

Fleet shot!

Admiral
The masses have spoken! Gamilon fleet shot! (these are all 1/1000 scale)

:hat off

Abecedar:

Great Fleet. lovely to see them all together

Carcearion:

Wow they look great! very well done all around! :hat off

I know not all models everywhere neeeed to be used in some kind of war game, but it would have been great to hear you would be showing them off on a table of war. Have you considered maybe doing a star ship diorama with them? I know various floating asteroid terrain and stars on void black mats aren’t super hard to come by.

That's an excellent suggestion, a friend of mine has one, but I think I really need to get one of my own!

So a couple more kits that I have recently completed as part of my monthly 'Pledge, Paint or Pay'

First (from Yamato 2199 naturally) is the Gamillas DWG109 'Debake' astro space fighter

I decided to paint it in the personal markings of fighter ace Major Getto

Pilots boarding their DWG109 planes and preparing to take off from a Gamillas space carrier

From Bandai, these kits are not sold separately, they are only available in larger box sets packaged with the space carriers

Painting the parts...all the colors were custom mixed to match the Gamillas Mechanics books (Japanese import books that are packed full of scale plans, history and color artwork)

The small missiles that are slung under the wings

And finished

I also managed to finish another Gamillas fighter...the DDG110 'Zedora II' class planetary interceptor.
Interestingly enough, "Zedora" is the Japanese pronunciation of "Sea Eagle" in a written combination of English/German. The Japanese love odd translations like that ;)

This kit is also not sold separately...two of them are packaged together in another larger scale kit. As always with Bandai, the parts are molded with exceptional detailing and ZERO flash or mold lines. I admit that I'm becoming spoiled at building such perfectly molded kits

Starting on painting the base colors...again, all the paints are custom mixed acrylics and hand painted

Gloss coat applied in preparation of applying the decals...

And all done

And I will donate 20 slaves to the first person to correctly tell me what real life plane the Zedora II is based on...this should be easy (I think)

:hat off

Abecedar:

Either the Sopwith Camel or the SR Blackbird. Now there’s a thought Space Bi-Planes

Darkmeer:

SR 71 Blackbird is what I see immediately.

Admiral:

Blackbird seems likely. Solid work on that spacefleet!

…and space or jet biplanes is a marvellous idea, no matter how silly. Had some thoughts in that direction earlier. Biplanes have the best looks. The nest Khan project? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Fuggit Khan:

the SR Blackbird.

Abecedar
Bingo!

You're the first person to get it, so 20 slaves to you good sir :cheers
...and space or jet biplanes is a marvellous idea, no matter how silly. Had some thoughts in that direction earlier. Biplanes have the best looks. The nest Khan project? ;P

Admiral
I actually have the bits and conversion parts to build a Chaos Dwarf triplane (I bought the bits for an earlier GH idea, but never completed it). The idea is for a triplane two-seater with blunderbuss rear gunner and in aerial combat with a dark elf dragon. Going to have it shooting holes in the wings of the dragon, sending it spiraling down to it's elven death :hashut

Good job on the guesses gentlemen :hat off

Jackswift:

That Tri-plane idea is kinda epic! you need to get working on that one!

Bassman:

Stupid question: you said you have planes hanging from the ceiling. Well, how to get rid of… (drum roll): dust!!!

I have a problem with that…

Fuggit Khan:

Stupid question: you said you have planes hanging from the ceiling. Well, how to get rid of... (drum roll): dust?!?!
I have a problem with that....

Bassman
Yes! Dust was a problem, so was spider webs. But now that I'm all grown up I have glass display cases :hat off

I've been on a space carrier plane building binge...which combines my love of airplane models and sci-fi.
So next up is the Gamilas FWG97 Dolcia class torpedo bomber. These are space carrier launched aircraft which carry a huge anti-shipping torpedo missile slung under the belly of the plane.

I'm also painting it in the personal markings of Major Kraitz (a cool character who sadly died in combat)

It's another excellent quality kit from Bandai...no flash and perfect fit parts. Super nice.

Painting up the parts...

The anti-ship torpedo is massive, larger than the same scale fighter aircraft

Naturally while building it I was making lots of "whoooosh" and "boom!" noises as I play tested it launching the torpedo missile  ;)

And all done :hat off

And I love the three rear mounted AA gun turrets

:hat off
