This post has xanders blessing (see the GHIV thread). What would you like to be the subject of the 5th Golden Hat award?
I would like it to be the front rank of an Immortals unit, (2 immortals, a champion, standard and musician). What would you all like to have a crack at?
I have to say I would like there to be more of a gap between competitions, to make it more of an event. There are not many units in our army so we would use up alot of stuff pretty fast and then have nothing left to create, warmachines would be tough to finish in an alotted time so I’m not sure if we could include them. I’m saying this through gritted teeth as I have not entered ANY of the Golden Hats so far as I have not completed anything in the time frames allowed, not that they are too quick, just bacuse I am too slow!! So I can’t wait for the next one and a chance to get a hold of one of those medals but I don’t want them to be over so quick.
That being said I think for the next comp’ Immortals are not a bad idea, I would have a go. I can’t think of any other suggestions right now but I’ll have a think.
I always thought it would be kind of neat to have a comp for the best piece of Chaos Dwarf scenery, although i’m not sure how that would fit in with the GH format.
Terrain and other battlefield accessories would be part of the Artisans competition.
We need to decide first if we’re doing a single mini (infantry sized/ ogre sized), a unit (5 models, mounted or unmounted), or something else.
We then decide what it will be, and if command models are allowed.
Must admit at the moment I would prefer a single mini. I’m in favour of ‘Special Elite’ on foot. I.e. It could be an Immortal, a Berserker, a Rocketeer, maybe even a Black Orc, or some other elite you’ve made up. Something that would be part of a Special choice, so not a core unit.
@Ghrask
I’ve got a list of ideas over in the staff section that would keep us going for a few years So no chance of running out any time soon.
I should expound on my last post. Someone mentioned the idea of slave masters/whippers, etc… I’m against that, I’d like to see something that is more of an intregal part of the list.
Of course the other problem would be that alot of people already have large armies, if there was a Earthshaker comp’ for example how many people already have Earthshakers!?! again if the comp’ is too regular people might not go out of their way to make something they already have unless the prize would be a little better, I think the comp’ prize would be good if aswell as a medal you get 1 single Chaos Dwarf Warrior sculpted by one of the experts like Xander or Grimstonefire (sorry guys :)), would be more motivation to do something special, just an idea.

Ghrask Dragh
just a pipe dream though, unless we can find a way of raising the cash to get a prize. hmmm......... the parts to make a xander seige-shaker!!!!! they dont sell the bits over here. If xander sold the kits to make a seigeshaker at a slight markup, maybe we could use the cash to buy something cool for a prize. It would definately have to be a bi-annual thing then. just a thought.
Well, the debate for how often isn’t what this thread was for, but oh well I would say, why not some chaos dwarf warriors or blunderbussers for now? (I can’t think what was in the first two competitions… damnit ) If it is to be any unit, I would say use 5 models of the rank and file, so that command units can be in the follow up competition or some time later. That means the GH has a longer run before we somehow run out of ideas. Perhaps this time we need a warmachine though, because we all make those near the beginning of our armies (from what I know) and so we could get them done. Earthshaker next, methinks? Since people have fewer of those than any other warmachine (except, maybe the death rocket, but people post their earthshakers before death rockets, from experience).
I have an extra copy of the old GW Chaos Dwarf book I’d put up as a prize for the next competition. Astragoth sounds interesting, but whatever is decided, my offer still stands.
Maybe that will drum up some more entries for the next Goldenhat!!
If we are to do a warmachine, rather than specify what it is say something like:
?~Arcane monstrosity?T A warmachine or something unusual that fits the theme (for those who don?Tt want any more warmachines). Must have at least 2 crew.
That way you’d get more people entering, from those who have yet to get their first bolt thrower to those who already have painted most warmachines (and want to create something new).
Giving an overall theme for the competition rather than a specific warmachine might get more entries? Could be fun to see what people could create if they wanted to use house rules for it.
