Subject Matter: Chaos Dwarf Warriors!

For this contest we want you to enter some Chaos Dwarf warriors. Any equipment you fancy, with or without command groups and unit fillers. All manner of scales allowed. One or more models; you yourself set the upper limit. You’re free to enter several units of warriors if you wish to paint that many!

If you are unsure if your entry will fit the subject matter, please contact Admiral and he’ll sort it out with the rest of the Staff.

Basing is unrestricted and up to your discretion. You may include plinths and display bases if you want.

Specifics

Subject: Chaos Dwarf Warriors.

Bases: Up to your discretion.

The Due Date: 11:59 PM March 23rd, 2019 EST (Eastern Time Zone)

Please read the full rules that apply to the Golden Hat competition before submitting your entry.

Submission

All entries must be sent to the Golden Hat account no later than the due date. Entries will not be accepted after this. (Entrants have approximately 8 weeks to complete entries). If for some reason you are having trouble with your submission, contact Admiral. In order to avoid problems, entrants should not wait until the last minute to submit their entries.

How to Enter

Upload up to 4 photos of your entries to the Internet, e.g. with Imgur. Photos may not have additional text or items/models unrelated to your entry. Next, send a PM to Golden Hat (a special user that all Staff have access to) containing the links where the pictures can be found. (Note: This is the same as previous Golden Hats).

If you win:

- Walk across the backs of the cowed masses you have scorned and pushed aside, in order to take your place in the vaunted Golden Hat Hall of Fame (when it gets updated).

- Receive the Golden Hat medal for your online persona.

- Everyone who enters gets a number of slaves equal to the number of entries. If 20 people enter we award 20 slaves to each person who entered. Entries will count towards a veteran medal.

- Win paints and miniatures! See above for details.

Once all entries are received a thread will be created for voting and determining the winners!

If there are any questions it is best post them here so that everyone can benefit from any details or clarifications that may arise.

Should you wish to donate a prize to the contest, please PM Admiral and he will sort it out with you and the Staff.

Good luck everyone!

Zanko:

Very nice task. :cheers

We haven’t had a CD unit to paint for a long time, if I remember correctly.

I will probably, contrary to my own assumption, still paint an infantry unit.

tjub:

Great, a theme that should fit most of us!

Admiral:

Cheers folks!

Besides, would some kind souls kindly share this announcement on Age of Sig Zharr and KoW Abyssal Dwarf Facebook groups if there are any? Having the community spread out isn’t that big of a problem if we still keep in contact between the sites and Facebook groups, and gather for competitions and suchlike online community events.

I once registered on Age of Sig Zharr, but got blocked for some unfathomable reason and no response yet. :frowning:

Bolg:

Oh nice… I still have some sculpts I made way back that needed a purpose. this will be a great opportunity to finish them and slap on some paint (:

skutche:

Nice, I wanted to build a CD army anyways, I guess this is the right motivation to get me started

Jupp, Im on it. Covered the Warmaster and Dragon Rampant groups on FB as well, might be someone there who find it interesting. :)

Tack tjub!

Reaver of Uzkulak :

Can’t wait to see what everyone enters! Really hope to get something done in time. :yar

Jackswift:

Definitely in on this one. Not 100 percent on exactly what I will enter.

Should we assume this should specifically be a standard “warrior” type model or unit; versus some other type of related unit that are technically warriors but would count as something else for purposes of gameplay (ie bull centaurs, etc.), or is any type of warrior acceptable?

Admiral:

It’s originally intended as meaning footsoldiers (incl. elite units, berzerkers and so on bearded infantry), but good point there!

Let’s open it up to bull/boar/other centaurs, Chaos Dwarf cavalry, helicopter hats/flying infantry, mechanical leg (st)riders, weird mutants and other freaks that people interpret as Dawi Zharr warriors.

Good intentions to micromanage rules in detail for sake of fairness & even playing field tend to result in needless restrictions that at the end of the day just limits creativity, when all we’re after is a fun community hobbying event. Creativity and thinking outside the box are always at risk from rules strictures, and we want to encourage creativity. Let’s keep it open and see what people cook up.

Uther the unhinged:

AhHa! Hashut requires warriors of ANY sort! Igor, to the laboratory. I have some needlessly painful experiments to perform!

Admiral:

Oh my.

Viewer discretion is adviced. :stuck_out_tongue:

dancingyakminiatures:

finish up one now . gonna try to get some of my stuff painted up by then also but count me in for at least on entry

Admiral:

Nice! Good going.

Gargolock:

Bit of a strategy questions here, what is best for warriors? Great weapons or shields? I have no clue whether to re-roll saves of 1 or subtract 1 from enemy saves. I will need to decide eventually as the weapon is seemingly a crucial part of a warrior.

Talkings AoS I assume? Guess it depends of what you are facing and the rest of your army. I play Nurgle Demons for AoS, and against say Stormcast I feel like I miss rend for the attacks. Most damage is by mortal wounds of course, but when you go up against say 3+ rerolling 1, its nice to have some rend.

So go for a unit of each? When facing Beastmen or Nighthaunt you'd much rather have the defense than rend. :hat off

Admiral:

It’s much the same in other systems: Damage or shielding, what’s best depends on the opposition.

Admiral:

Going well, folks?
