[Archive] Gunrock Clan, Lords of Gorgoth [04-19-2009]

Triton:

Like this guy for instance

Cookie to whoever can identify the bits I used

I’ll have a go.

Head from a nurgle plague bearer, wings from the new demon prince (carn’t remember his name) from the SOC book.  body and legs from a troll, weapons from a various old demon princes. How bad was I?

By the way nice army keep up the good work.

Lord Archaon:

It’s troll’s body with a 40k nurgle demon head + be’lakor wings.

:hat off

Ammrik Gunrock:

Hello again everyone.  I know I promised an update last week, but my schedule was stupid and I only managed to finish off my Blunderbusses this week.  So without further ado

The Blunderbusses of the Gunrock Clan.  I painted them rather quickly and I’m not to happy with the skin tone really, nor am I happy with the guns either.  And before you all say anything I know, Im going to put holes on the barrels.  The first time I tried to put them they looked awful so im just trying to determine how big I should make them.  For now however, they are done and I can move on to 25 Hobgoblin slaves (aka Gnoblars).  Wish me luck!

You sir win a cookie! :cheers

Kera foehunter:

nice paint job love the cools you used!!i love the skin tones i leave them alone !!!

Swissdictator:

I like the use of a brass color for the armor, very nice.

I have to admit, I’m not a fan of odd skintones like gray… but you manage it well however.

Nice demon too.

wallacer:

I concur with Kera, the Skin tone looks great.

Ghrask Dragh:

I like the skin, would keep it as it is if I were you. The dark skin works well with the darker red you have used which is why I think the bronze stands out a bit much, maybe if you toned down the bronze with a brown wash, what do you think?

Gnoblar hoobo’s are always the best will look forward to that update. :cheers

Ammrik Gunrock:

Update.  I painted these guys VERY fast.  You cant see it because of the lighting (My normal lamp is on the fritz) but these guys are speed painted to death, blotchy, and covered in mold lines…annoying to get rid of them on such small models…I’m afraid I’ll cut them in half!

But I got them donw.  I WAS going to do the whole 25 man unit, but since I only need these 2 10 man units for the tournament I decided to focus on them so I can get to the rest of the army.

anyway I’ll try and get better pictures…until then enjoy

Next up, something fun… Deepok Mardbud, Sorceror of the Gunrock clan.

Zanko:

They look quite nice but the pics are a bit dark … could you make a few brighter ones???

:hashut

tjub:

What are you going to use them as? Gobbos, or Gnoblars traded from Ogres?

Yeah im working on it.  The bulb in my lamp decided it wanted to shatter and ever since then I cant get the darn lamp to work!  It sucks cause I need that lamp at my painting station to actually see what im doing.  IM forced to use a regular bedroom lamp until I figure out what wrong with it or find a replacement.

These are gnoblar slave warriors (Aka Naked 10 man Hobgoblin units) The lands surrounding Gorgoth are littered with Gnoblars, and although they make terrible slaves (there weak, generally stupid, cowadly to an extreme even for a greenskin). They are so abundant That Gorgoth cannot ignore them as a useful source of cheap labour.  As many of them die each day as are brought in from the surrounding area.  Some actually survive long enough that the work in the mines makes them stronger and generally more skilled at wielding a pick axe (My little explanation for why they are ws3 and str3 instead of the Gnoblar equivalent).  For this reason Gorgoth has no quams about sending these more skilled slave warriors to battle....especially as it thins there ranks alittle and prevents these Gnoblars from getting any smart ideas about "escaping" or "rebelling" :cheers.

Kera foehunter:

like the gnoblers they are so cute!! now that gives me an idea

Ammrik Gunrock:

SO I got my lamp working (yay) so heres some of my Gnoblar Slave Warriors along with my newly completed Chaos Dwarf Sorceror, Deepok Mardbud running along with them.

So I planned on working on 9 Chaos Dwarf Warriors, but I have another Tournament thats in 2 weeks and I most certainly cant get a full 2000pt Chaos Dwarf army done by then, so I’m going with my Empire (I just have one or two things to paint and touch up) So im going to be doing that along with Some Bolt Throwers I wanted to save towards the end, but I decided to get the jump on them now.

So next up, 2 Hobgoblin Bolt throwers…not sure when they’ll be up…but hopefully soon!

Kera foehunter:

well good luck !! I hope you can get your guys done in time

Ammrik Gunrock:

Thanks for the support! I pretty much finished the last of the painting I had to do for my Empire army, just a little basing and touch ups left to do but i’m not neglecting my Chaos Dwarfs! Bolt Throwers are almost done, and I just have to work on the crew…though I’ll probably do them along with the 25 Hobgoblin Warriors Im also going to be working on (aka Common Goblins)

Ammrik Gunrock:

So my tournament is done.  I went 1-1-3 with my Empire…pretty good since I really wasn’t playing a super crazy list…but now that thats out of the way I need to continue preparing for the next tournament!  which my Chaos Dwarfs will be attending!:hashut

So progress so far…10 of my unit of 25 Hobgoblins (or in this case…Common Goblins)

I REALLY like these models.  There actually really fun to paint…too bad Common Goblins dont see as much use as Night Goblins nowadays/

Anyway, next 10 are on my desk and ready for painting.  I’ll get them done as fast as I can!

-Ammrik

Kera foehunter:

i like the green skins they look like a bunch of rouge pirates !!

great job

Ammrik Gunrock:

Onwards toward the Doubles tournament for me!

Here are some of the Auxilliary troops of Gorgoth!  25 Hobgoblin Warriors (aka Goblins)

Hobgoblins that become “un-wolved” (aka, having there wolf die in a battle/raid) are sent to serve The Hosts of the Gorgoth as auxilliary troops for a period of time before they are allowed to rejoin the ranks of the Khans with which the Gunrocks are allied.  This is done because loosing ones wolf is a great hit to their pride and must be regained through hard work as a foot slogger for Gorgoth before they can receive a new wolf mount.  Plus, having lots of Hobgoblins on foot slows down the nomadic/raiding movements of the tribe.

They also serve as gun crew for the lesser armaments of Gorgoth.

Whether for the Gunrock Clan of for the Khans, Bolt Throwers are easy to use/repair and quick to move around and are very useful for both forces.

Both together!

Now onwards!  9 Chaos Dwarf Warriors are next!

Kera foehunter:

wow you got two hobgoblin bolthower( lucky ) cool paint job on them
