I also read somewhere that it is actually a being that have existed longer than the other gods, hence the reason why he is called Father of Darkness. The Old Ones sealed the being in the mountain because it was such a malign force but it was dug out by the Chaos Dwarfs who then began to worship it when they got the choice of doing that or perish. This is not something I’ve heard many times, and it seems more people think there is a link between Hashut and Khorne.
Usual references to hashut/ khorne etc, but the thing I found interesting was the idea that hashut was around even before the chaos dwarfs existed?
I always assumed the link was similar to Sigmar or the dwarf ancestor gods, that they became gods only when people worshiped them.
But if Hashut was some resident evil spirit of the warhammer world, he could have been here before the polar gates collapsed. So he would have presented a problem for old ones. Downside of course is that the lizardmen would really have it in for us… :~ He could have been a creeping shadow that corrupted everything.
I actually like the idea that Hashut was trapped in spirit form somehow under the mountains in the warhammer world, and the chaos dwarfs accidently released him to return to the realm of chaos.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting to dwell upon even if it is totally wrong. Anyone have any idea where this guy could have read that?
I like the idea múch better then that there is somethin’ between Hashut and Khorne.
It would give the cd a interesting background and a reasonable to how/why they turned evil. And an old enemy to do battle with since the slanns probably would like to try to imprison him again.
Would like to see somethin like this in the fluff section of the comin armybook… (ever the optimistic!)
Who said we are evil? Who? Give me their name so I can show them Hashut must never be questioned!
We are what the world should be! We are the sole power who knows what they are doing. We’ve advanced in technology further then even our backwards cousins who have forsaken us, who abandoned us.
No! I Daresay it is the so called western Dwarfs that our evil! They who claim to be bound by honor, family ties, and oaths… yet who so quickly abandoned their brethren to the wastes. They are the great betrayers! It is they who are evil! They are more treacherous then even an elf!
I say it is time we marched out and staked our claim. To take our rightful place! To make the world tremble in fear before our might, to know their shortcomings when measured against us! Cry havoc and let slip the Dawi Zharr! We shall become death incarnate, and bring forth a terrible vengeance! It is time to crush our western false brothers, claim their land and build the true empire. We shall show Dwarf kind what they should be. We shall become a leviathan of curly beards and tusks that lords over the lands.
As our dark shadow crawls across the landscape, foreign lands falling pray to our might, and in time serving in darkness to strengthen us we shall unleash a terrible fury. The howls of which will be heard across the globe. Death shall rang down from the skies via our rockets, and destroy whole empires. Entire kingdom shall be slain before the might of the Dawi Zhaar! Hashut will rise ascendant and slay the feeble “four gods of Chaos” and shall reign supreme. Then, only then, will we be able to enjoy the fruits of our slaves labor and the blood of our warriors.

There is almost no official fluff about Hashut. He hasn’t done anyhting, has no personality. Just represents bulls, fire, and darkness (those last two are a bit conflicting!), and is worshipped by CDs. He has no origins or intentions.
The Great Enchanter (Drachenfels) was very very old. Unfortunately that book belongs firmly to the category of books who are not true to the Warhammer background. The authors of that time insisted on taking “liberties” with the fluff and shouldn’t honestly be relied on for fluff.

snowblizz
Indeed he was. He saw the old ones *arrive*.
As a background tool though, Drachenfels just works, plain and simple. They could easily re-con him into the background again, just like they re-conned Soland out so that they didn't need to commission another Empire map.
