[Archive] Hashut the Fallen

Ancient History:

I just had a kinda funny idea. According to Dwarf lore, the Ancestor God Grimnir fought his way to the Gate at the Northern Pole, and either held it or actually entered to take the battle to the Chaos Gods. Meanwhile, the Elves performed the ritual to close the gates, trapping Griminir in the Realm of Chaos.

So, as a quirky and unusual origin story, what if Hashut was actually the mutated and degenerated Grimnir, corrupted by the powers of Chaos?

Willmark:

Anything could be possible. Hashut’s fluff is so old and vague there is so much room for interpretation.

PS who left the door open to let you out of the Wiki!

BilboBaggins:

Interesting idea. Until GW finally updates the fluff I guess anything you come up with is fair game.

cornixt:

I think Hashut’s Chosen wrote fluff based around that very idea. It is certainly plausable, although I don’t think GW would ever go with it 100% they might hint at it.

Maul:

I think that would be a great topic to explore in some fan fiction for the WOH.

Obsidian:

Now that is an interesting twist! Not only does it sound plausible it will also cause a nice riot in the Dwarf community!

I like the theories people discuss of what Hashut is and of how he/it came to be. Is he a Chaos Daemon Prince banished/escaped from the Realms of Chaos, a former Bloodthirster of Khorne and now the idea of maybe lost Grimnir.

I once had a brainfart that linked Hashut to the Ancients from the Lizardmen fluff. Far fetched I know but maybe it also has potential. Basically it came down to one of the Ancients toying around with the powers of the warp and got corrupted. He got busted by his companions and was banished and locked down in a mountain situated in the region where now is the empire of the Dawi Zharr. The rest would nicely fit in with the Chaos Dwarfs finding his prison and releasing him.

Sorry for the hijack Ancient History!

Kera foehunter:

come on don’t anyone offer a drink of ale or rum when they spinn some old tales ??

it would make a better story??

BilboBaggins:

Cool my Slayer army and Chaos Dwarfs following different versions of the same God. I think I’m really going to go with this.

Kera foehunter:

mine too they just want to die!!After serving Kera the cruel

Zanko:

Grimnir = Hashut ?!?!?!

I think it´s a great idea and it´s also makes more sense as an ordinary DaemonPrince or Bloodthirster as a god!!!

In my eyes they don´t have enough power to create manies of Bullcentaurs, Lammasus or Great Tauri!!!

And an Ancient one???

Shouldn´t an Ancient one have much more power???

No I like the idea!!! :hat off

:hashut

Well, the old ones are/were powerful, but it's suggested that it had to do a lot with their technology. I believe the Slaan were the most powerful sans items, and they were the ones who reshaped the world under the Old One's whims, fought off chaos, and so on.

I've often held the idea that Grimnir could have become something very powerful once he crossed the threshhold into the realm of chaos. Though a chaos god might be a little out of the question at this point. The existing Fluff of Gotrek possibly turning into an avatar of Grimnir could end up contradicting that idea.
However, I think the greatest test of the theory would come when we get more information as to when Hashut came to the Chaos Dwarfs.

The idea of Hashut as a demon prince, especially one of khorne always annoyed me, as it ignored the fact that it was Slaanesh who used to be idealized as a calf, cow, or bull. Aside from horns and cloven feet on bloodthirsters, the idea of khorne or any of his demon princes as being a bull-headed god appears to be outside of the established fluff.

Though I'd point out that it was one demon prince who managed to threaten the old one's designs on Albion, created his own lore or spells, and started a whole religion of twisted worshippers: Be'lakor.

Swissdictator:

This is a nice little twisted idea. It also is further proof that were are following the true path for the Dwarfs. We have embraced our destiny, and our made better for it.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Plus it’d be a nice way to get back at the treacherous Western Dwarfs. Revenge is a dish best served cold, namely making one of their greatest heroes into something they loath more then anything else.

I love it!

Kera foehunter:

this is the typical bed time story. That cd tells there children when they put them to bed

Revlid:

This is the exact version of Hashut’s origins that appears on the Hand of Hashut armylist - I suppose it must be a popular theory.

I’ve never liked it myself. I feel it cheapens Hashut as a god to not be an entirely new entity, and I feel it cheapens Chaos Dwarfs as a race that their god is “A Dwarf God, but evil”. Plus, where does the bull imagery, the love of technology, etc, come in? How is Grimnir still granting favour to the best Slayers if he’s been turned ebil?

Also, it’ll never be canon - can you imagine the reaction of the Dwarf players?

BilboBaggins:

What give a God power is the belief in him/her. Grimnir/Hashut could be two sides of the same God. There are people who believe that Khorne, Khaine, Khakkekk and Khaela Mensha Khaine are all versions of the same God.

I found an interesting reference sheet someone created called the Devine Document. It lists all Gods mentioned in the Warhammer World and the needed documents/books of where they are mentioned. It’s a Word Document, I downloded it and also saved it as a PDF file.

Well, the difference would be that Grimnir was a person at one point, much like sigmar.

I've been lurking for a wee while - felt I needed to keep my post count up. Over a 1000 posts on Hand of Hashut mean nothing over here, after all. :hat off

tetnis:

This Hashut=Grimner would make quite a bit of sense- after all, both high and dark elves worship khaine right?

X-Porter:

This idea reminds me a lot of John Carpenter’s “Prince of Darkness”. Best ending to a horror movie, ever.

Sorry if this seems off-topic, but if you’ve seen it you know what I mean.
