TheHoodedMan:
Thank you. Youre right, thats a great model (the mechanicum range as a whole is good and this model is at the peak of it).
Im sure you will have fun in painting the Skitarii.<br>The choice is mainly the studio color scheme of GW, but I made some minor changes.<br>So I painted the Mechanicum symbol in red and white (the red will get some highlights, forgot that) and the hilt of the energy "halberd" is kind of purple :-). This is not much but Im satisfied with that.
Contest is more for getting feedback and taking part, much like here at CDO. There will be not much contestants, but some of the 30k guys have Mechanicum, too, and they have awesome skills and the forge world models are superb.
TheHoodedMan:
It looks like I will do some Science Fiction stuff this summer (aside from a chaos I`ve got some Infinty models (Painted one Pan Oceania), totally different style like 40k or GW in total: More real scale not heroic style.
And I have got some more Mechanicum models to do. Maybe there will be even more than originally planned, we will see :yar.
At the moment I did a Kataphron destroyer. I like this really mean looking models (base skull is not done yet).

Admiral:
Very nice work on the Kataphron! The colour composition works well, though the skull on the base seem out of place on the photo, as if it lacks the shading given the rest of the model. Could be a trick of photography, of course. Neat to hear this army is expanding.
TheHoodedMan:
Here`s a pic from a section of my new playing surface. It is a print on PVC exactly 6x4 ft. and works very well.

Abecedar:
Very nice. I have seen various ones for differnet games here and there before.
They add a nice theme to many a game. We have a Wings of Glory fanatic with several mats and they are good

Me too :hat off
I will be keeping a close eye on this for more of you Sci-Fi stuff this summer :)

I like the added skull...ever since seeing Terminator, I have always liked the imagery of large Sci-Fi robot tanks running over/grinding skulls under their tracks.
And that PVC gaming mat is beautiful! Did you print that yourself?
TheHoodedMan:
Thank you, I will rename the thread after posting this because two Sci-Fi threads are too much; will include my starting infinity troop as well.
No, I sent a picture to a company in Italy. It was surprisingly cheap on a special offer. Without special offer it would still only have costed about 26 EUR which is one third of a normal gaming mat 6x4.
pixartprinting is the name.
The mat is only a simple pvc banner but on a hard surface like my gaming board this is absolutely ok.
And here some Infinity shots.

Impressive work on the skin tones and shading!
A beautiful model to be sure...I like that she appears to be smiling in approval of her nice paintjob :)
And I remember those old GW paint pots she's standing on :cheers
Abecedar:
Oh no… I think I chipped a nail!
TheHoodedMan:
These Infinity soldiers take a lot of time until they look halfway acceptable (at least at my skill level). At the moment Im in a pledge project to paint 6 models until end of june. <br>Probably this will be tough only with that Corvus Belli miniatures and recently I read some Malifaux stuff and its very fascinating. Its a US game and is kind of 19th century steampunk/fantasy/horror. Mankinds magic powers are dwindling and the magic users opened a door to “the other side” to regain powers. There they found the ghost city of Malifaux where they could harvest the precious Soul Stones, which can be used to work powerful magic… Therefore I began with a Malifaux Crew, kind of Asian working class with additons: Mei Feng Rail Crew.
Both bases need some more love and the Rail Golem gets black pigments, some more work on the wood and the flame parts. I decided for true metal at the models because Im much more familiar with that kind of painting and its much quicker done.

It looks like she is admiring the paintjob she did on her nails :cheers
And those paintpots are new! I remember much older pots... im getting old :(
Great work mate, nice colour scheme!
TheHoodedMan:
“Private Carter, what the hell are you waiting for?”
“Oh Sarge, does that nail color really fit with my beret…?”
Abecedar:
When you said “Rail Golem”, I pictured a Rail Gun. Not a piece oF Railway Track to hit people with.
Admiral:
Obviously it’s the close quarter version of a rail gun.
Very nice work on the Infinity and Mailfauz models. The nail-paint admirer in particular. However, beware straying from the Omnissiah for too long without touching a red robe.
Roark:
Love that Akali Sikh Commando! Beautiful.
TheHoodedMan:
Thanks guys.
@Roark: The Sikh Commandos are in fact my preferred models from PanO. Those jet packs look great and give them nice rules, too.
Malifaux: There is a model with a rail gun, too, which can be fielded in this crew. It is called Fuhatsu. Dont own it right now ;).<br>edit: The "Rail Golem" has its name because Mei Feng crafts it from the metals and wood which are used in the railway construction. The knowledge how to do this is her secret.
malifaux fuhatsu - Bing
There is nothing finished right now but here`s a WIP of my Mei Feng models so that you can imagine how the crew will eventually look like (a mercenary and metal gamin still missing):

TheHoodedMan:
Three Malifaux models finished:

Abecedar:
Very nice. But what does the guy do with the big poopa-scoopa?
TheHoodedMan:
The yellow-brown thing on his back?
That`s a asian sun hat with a broad rim. But sun never shines in Malifaux…
The tool in his hand is a coal shovel.
