[Archive] Ishkurs Death Korps of Krieg

Ishkur Cinderhat:

Just to show what else I am working on at the moment… my fledgling Death Korps. Due to the huge quantity of Infantry models in the army, I kept the paint job rather straightforward and simple.

My first colour scheme was mainly using different shades of brown

but I have eventually decided to use a darker one instead after reading the DK’s fluff in Imperial Armour V.

That’s what’s finished so far. Next up are the Thudd guns, for which I made a resin base. These will come in a unit of three, and I definitely hope they will provide some serious dakka in my first few games!

Hope you like them, even if they keep me from making a lot of progress with my Chaos Dwarfs. Cheers! :cheers

Pyro Stick:

Definately like the darker colour scheme. Nice job. They are much better than the death korps people paint around where i live…

Canix:

Freaking awesome love them all both paint schemes look good,i think i prefer the first but may just be the red clay mud:hat off

Ishkur Cinderhat:

@Pyro: really, what do they look like? I have almost no references of other Krieg miniatures, as google provides no photos. It seems no-one ever posts them in a forum or so.

Ghrask Dragh:

Love these models, love your painting!

This guy in the middle is my fav’

I can’t wait to see how that Thudd gun turns out. :cheers Ishkur

PS. here is a DKoK from the warhammer realm, painted by Mika I beleive.

Ishkur Cinderhat:

That’s my first Junior Officer.

Well the warhammer realm soldier truly a very nifty paintjob, especially the armour looks great. Way too much work for me though, the typical DKOK army will include a minimum of 50-60 infantry models, after all! o.O

Benjiman:

You sir have an excellent style of painting, not wanting to intrude but just thought i should pass my honest insignificant judgement. I myself would also like to see when the thudd guns are finished… Ive always fancied the Death Korps, but alas like most of my desire projects, funding is sparse. Hats off to you

hal:

Lovely job Ishkur. Those models are probably the best thing to ever come out of Forgeworld, especially the trench guys you can get.

AGPO:

Really nice, I actually prefer the first scheme, and it seems to fit the bases nicely as well.

Ishkur Cinderhat:

Yeah but it was kinda too brown in the end for my taste. Also, the fluff in Imperial Armour V said the DK usually wear very dark greatcoats, so I changed to the dark grey scheme.

torn:

dont know which i like better. the first set have an almost artistic blending in the use of colour, more like what you would se in a painting rather than on a miniature, which by the way is a big compliment.

the second lot is very striking, and the little bit of red on the collar certainly brings them out to play.

Xander:

Very awesome.

Well done mate!

clam:

I have been waiting for this - thx! These are some of the best FW-models ever (I WANT a DKOK army too :)) - and you did the justice - my friend!

Btw! how big are those wheels on the Thudd? - I’m thinking of use that or the heavy Mortar as base for an Earthshaker conversion (though it has to be bigger than my Death Rocket - which is based on The Ork Lobba) - perhaps you could post a pic of it next to a CD - so I could see the scale? - if not - I hope you could give me the measurements then?

Ishkur Cinderhat:

A thudd gun’s / heavy mortar’s wheel has 30mm diameter - actually about the same size as the Hellcannon’s big wheel.

AGPO:

I was looking at the heavy mortar too, great minds think alike!

Ishkur - are you thinking of re-basing them now then?

Ishkur Cinderhat:

You mean because of the colour? Nah, I’ll just buy some more pots of terracotta than I would have if the paint was not going to be dicontinued.

AGPO:

Nah, I thought they were based to go with the colour scheme, I was wondering if you would go with a darker base now they’re being re-painted

Ghrask Dragh:

Any news on these from over christmas?

Nazhur:

What ever you do, you do it very nice

hal:

I much prefer the darker paint scheme. That is one mean looking gun!
