July’s White Dwarf features Mighty Empires, the expansion that used plastic hexagon tiles to help with campaigns. In this month’s edition they show off a set of tiles that make up the Dark Lands. "Lying between the Worlds Edge Mountains and the Mountains of Mourn, the Dark Lands are an inhospitible realm shrouded by a pall of sulphur and smoke. Only evil creatures dwell here, including the industrious but cruel Chaos Dwarfs."
Featured in the map are The Gates of Zharr, The Tower of Gorgoth, The Fortress of Vorag, The Sentinels, The Black Fortress, The Daemons Stump, and The Flayed Rock.
The tiles were painted mostly black and many with lava strewn over them. Also included are Tar Pits and Volcanoes and a Sludge River. I was pleasantly surprised, and I recommend you all take a gander at this month’s issue. :hat
Who is "July"? Why did she get a copy of White Dwarf before I did? How did you convince her to let you read it?

...is that a joke? i am pretty sure that by July Xander means the White Dwarf for the month of july (unless i am greatly mistaken)
fervently hoping the same feature is in the Australian white dwarf :cheers
Hi just a quick hi to say that yes the feature is in the new W.D in england.
Although they do have a number of other lands featured i think its a good sign as there are many other places they could have shown with actual races out. It also get people who dont know about the CD to ask who they are …
Well, glad to hear that I might also be able to see this kit in WD. May actually be worth buying it. My friend and I only get it because we collect now really! It’s quite ridiculous…
shouldnt be too different from the released ones. One thing im not too sure about, when your playing a full campaign you cant really bluetack those plastic tiles to a niceboard.
Subscribers do indeed get stuff early, but I cancelled mine because I didn’t buy every issue anymore. Still, it took a break from the hobby to make me do this. HB, TK, take the plunge and miss an issue or two. It helps your bank balance if you only buy the ones which interest you
But I do like the fact that the magasine keeps me in touch with updates and with the hobby ingeneral. A bit like after reading it i get inspired and go paint some hobbos.
I bought my WD this saturday in a normal newspaper store. Dont know if it was released eariler here in Spain, but I also noticed the CD mention. What a big surprise to find the home of the Dawi Zharr as an example!
And maybe I also will get the Mighty Empires expansion, it looks very interesting…
