[Archive] Looking for the official rules to play Chaos Dwarfs?

Grimstonefire:

Seeing as there will be lots of people coming here to look for the Ravening Hordes rules (the ones most of us use to play Chaos Dwarfs in Warhammer), it’s only fair we direct you on where to find them.

We won’t be openly hosting the RH list again on CDO, not for the foreseeable anyway.

Ravening Hordes - Chaos Dwarf Army List - The full official army list (still valid to play in 8th edition). This can still be found on the internet if you search hard enough.

There isn’t an official FAQ for that army list, but CDO have put together the CDO Unofficial Chaos Dwarfs FAQ.

This was based on the official Ravening Hordes Errata and Chaos Dwarf FAQ, and some amount of reasonableness for the changes between 7th and 8th edition.

Forge World

“Tamurkhan: Throne of Chaos” is a 2011 book by the Warhammer Forge (available at Forgeworld.co.uk and at some Games Workshop stores). It contains the [[Legion of Azgorh]] army list for Chaos Dwarfs. Some of the units have rules available for download from Forgeworld.co.uk.

TheVoice:

That second link is broken, alas.

Ronshank:

I’ve been looking around a while and though it is still possible to find the Ravening Hoards list, the US GT list seems to be long gone as it has been made redundant by the unoffical army book. So until I can find it I’m back to putting banners of slavery with my black orcs. I’d put some direct links up but I don’t want the few remaining sites to get the GW inquiry treatment

two_heads_talking:

isn’t there a newer list now? one posted up when the warforge chaos dwarfs were released?

Time of Madness:

Yes of course there is a new book.

If you look at the dates of the posts in this thread they are from 2009/2010. The thread just hasn’t been updated yet.

Time of Madness

two_heads_talking:

Time of Madness, that is partly why I mentioned it. this thread, “looking for the official rules to play chaos dwarfs?” should definitely be updated… shouldn’t take but a minute or three…

cornixt:

I updated it last week, in case you hadn’t noticed. A few more tweaks done today to make it look nicer, plus a link to the CDO FAQ.

Groznit Goregut:

Oh, I also worry that I have enough to make him come towards me.  Isn’t the range on the Hashut spells short?  It will have to be my K’Daai and war machines that do it.

Bloodbeard:

Threadomancy! But the thread is dticky to the top of the forum… so not really raising it from the grave.

How do we know Ravening Hordes are valid in 8th edition?

GW hasn’t made a FAQ, it’s not mentioned in any official material.

Plus GW has opened for the warhammer forge books at tournaments. Doesn’t that pretty much make Thamurkhans LoA the only official one?

Just wondering. Is this threas shouldn’t be updated again og made unsticky.

Mivrash Faz:

Hey All,

Just a quick question about playing Chaos Dwarfs. As I understand it there are two sets of rules and army lists for playing Chaos Dwarfs. The newest set can be found in Tamurkhan and these do not replace/supercede the ones presented in the army lists in Ravening Hordes? Is this correct? Are both considered ?olegal? as far ?oofficial? game play at a GW store or a tournament goes?

cornixt:

The Ravening Hordes list is just so far behind now (and needs quite a few opinions on changes to be used) that I think there’s only a few people who still play it. It will probably raise a few eyebrows at a store, but I doubt any tournament will allow it any more. Who knows what changes it will need for 9th edition.

Lucifer:

yes, GW haven’t mentioned RH in years!

Tamurkhan however is leagal at GW events, so i think it is fair to assume that this being ‘THE’ list is the intention…

Mivrash Faz:

Cool. Thanks guys for the clarification.:cheers

TheHoodedMan:

You could download Lamekhs online codex for example. It really simplifies army building. The Legion of Azgorh is included (Tamurkhan).

Tyranoth The Ashen:

Admin: No copy right material

Timothy Archer:

I’m sure you will have trouble to post a link to a download page of a copyrighted material on this forum. You should remove it

Bloodbeard:

It’s a real shame that FW have removed the 8th edition FAQ (especially since most questions came from this site) and that Tamurkhan can now only be found used (it’s a beautiful book).

And even though many will still be playing 8th edition Warhammer, we cannot host the material that’s still legally owned by Forge World. Sad but true.

Thanks for sharing in the best intentions, but I had to delete your post.

Tyranoth The Ashen:

Timothy Archer So how else will people be able to see a book, that is no longer in print or production?, and when it comes to the FAQ, it is all gone. SO for those who want to start a official army, with not the fanmade, will not be able to play in official tournament.

Bloodbeard; Sorceror-Prophet of the savior of all Dawi-Zharr. I understand why. But the FAQ is long gone. No one can find it, not even as a pdf in the web anymore, for no one has uploaded it. What we are now, is no longer Dawi, zharr, we now show that we are more like backstabbing hobgoblins to the newcomers.

I'm sure you'll be able to find some people on the interwebs who are willing to share (however illegal it may be). And it's still more than possible to find the Tamurkhan book on ebay (like most other OOP items).

Situation is tricky for all us 8th editioners. And it sucks that we can't share the stuff - but we can't.

Perhaps throw FW an email and ask is we could be allowed to share the old FAQ?
