[Archive] Looking for trolls

Lord Archaon:

I’m attending a tournament in May with my O&G army, and i’m lacking a bunch of troll miniatures. I need 9 troll models in total and bying GW ones i would have to spend 84 quids, which is quite a sum. So I was wandering if anyone knew cheap and good looking alternative for the GW trolls.

Thanks in advance :hat off

Thorne:

I know hundreds that troll on warseer but it’s down at the moment. Could you use converted ogres instead? To fit the bill failing that if they don’t need to be games workshop you could look at black tree designs range or even use plastic toys to fit the bill ?

Lord Archaon:

Thanks for ideas! Though I doubt I can convert ogres to look like proper trolls. Also I looked at the Black tree design website and found only this troll.
I remember seeing a link for a webshop with a couple of good looking resin troll models here at CDO not a while ago, but sadly i failed to find it. If someone knows any resin/metal troll models that would be less then 8 quids, i would be very grateful. And by grateful i mean i’ll send some slaves.

Thorne:

Fenryll miniatures based in France do some pretty cool trolls too. If I recall they work out at ,7 each

Thorne:

I almost forgot ral partha too !!!

inkpwn:

Black scorpion do one for £7.

I will have to search a few blogs but there are some very good cheap trolls out there, ffstore.it. has a lot of cheap fantasy football trolls as well.

nitroglysarine:

What about cheep D&D models? Do they work out much cheaper?

after looking on ebay there are some, but I think scale is an issue :frowning:

Thorne:

Yeah d&d trolls tend to be taller and leaner than their backwards games workshop cousins

Anonymouse:

Lots of trolls here: http://artoftrolling.memebase.com/

Lord Archaon:

Lots of trolls here: http://artoftrolling.memebase.com/ :D

Anonymouse
Nice one :P

Thanks for your help everyone! The black scorpion troll looks ace. I will definetly buy it. So now only 8 trolls left :)

P.S. slaves sent ;)

inkpwn:

Thank you

Zanko:

What about the classic Troll (D&D style) from Otherworld!?!?

                     :hashut

Zanko:

The Troll from Heresy is quite cool too - but sadly quite expensive … :frowning:

Trolls from Mithril! They are much cheaper about 8 Euros each!

Some more Trolls you can find here - from Mirliton Miniatures!

Reaper miniatures also distributes a wide variety of Trolls!

                     :hashut

Lord Archaon:

Thanks Zanko!

Trolls from Mirliton and Reaper are exactly what i need. Does anyone know if they ship to Europe?

Zanko:

You can get the Mirliton stuff from Vexilla Limited!

… and Miniature Figurines sells Reaper stuff!

I hope this helps! :cheers

For the heresy troll try tritex-games. Cut price heresy miniatures are in abundance. As for what I was thinking earlier, google search ‘laughing ferret studios’ the guy has recently built a underworld team for blood bowl and the troll comes from a almost unheard of company that does a decent variety of trolls. The link is in his blog.

clam:

You can also get Reaper and Mirliton from Tim at miniature-herores.co.uk.

Hard to get (as the don’t support credit card that well) - but Asgaard (now at Viking Forge) do these: 25mm Trolls which are pretty cheap

Black Tree design have the old  Harlequin Fantasy ones. Awesome trolls but not really cheap. Can be found here in the monster section: EOE Orbis

Warplock Monkey (a former CDO member) have made these fantastic ones: http://www.warploqueminiatures.co.uk/Trolls/cat485103_507151.aspx (but again not cheap - but well worth the money if you ask me)

Trollforged have these: http://trollforged.com/shelf_fantasy_Troll.html $60 for a familie of 5 - not that bad if you ask me - and the look good too

And Red-Box-games have just released these - my absolute favourites:

- but $34 for the set of two!

Zanko:

Didn’t recognized that Warplock Monkey had his own webside and sells his stuff!

Hadn’t heard about him for a quite long time …

Thanx for posting clam! :hat off

@Zanko

Think you can be excused, cause his site/store is rather new. But I try and keep on following him and his work here: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=56472&start=780

Lots of cool stuff going on in there.

Like this Dragon:

- though it ain’t probably never released. £60 for a Dragon is a lot of money. He tries raising money here: Cast up the Dragon! - Ulule - but still a long way.

Zanko:

@ clam:

I had a look at the website yesterday!

Imo this dragon is amazing  :hat off  but 60 GBP are lot of money!

Nonetheless I’m tempted to spend this money … I must reflect it carefully!
