[Archive] Maelzch's Dawi Zharr

maelzch:

Hi All,

I’ve finally gotten around to making some chaos dwarves instead of just looking at loads of pics.  Here’s my first lot, they’re going to be used as counts as Dwarves at the upcoming Clapham Charge doubles tournament (alongside my chaos orcs :D).

Firstly my Hellcannon, believe it or not, just a lowly cannon in the ‘counts as’, but will be either an earthshaker or hellcannon when i use the Dawi Zharr.

with 3 crew and an engineer

Other shots

and the crew, the chaos dwarf is the engineer

Here’s my ‘gyrocopter’.

This friendly looking bunch are my warriors (tho they may become immortals)

The banner will be done at a later date, Im currently trying to get stuff done for the charge.

I’ve also got a Hero done:

and here’s tonights progress:

As always, C+C appreciated (bear in mind these were a little rushed)

Cheers,
Maelzch

Love it so far. Great looking Hobgoblins and fire effects, especially the lava. Is the lightest layer pure white?

Indeed it is, i followed the WoH lava tutorial, I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

tjub:

Looks great so far!

Joshmohr:

Love your work!

Loki:

Great work maelzch, the lava looks great and the conversions that you have done look awesome cant wait to see more of the army

Grimstonefire:

The twisty beards idea is great! Certainly easier than doing all the traditional curly look.

I like how colourful your models are, they really would stand out from a distance, which is a lot more than mine would.

I can’t say that I like the colour you painted the taurus wings though.

turquois dwarf:

I like the faces on the blunderbusses and the coroded metal looks realy nice.

maelzch:

Thanks for the comments guys!

Grimstonefire
The taurus wings were supposed to be the same corroded metal colour as the masks. It didnt turn out too well and may get a repaint at some point, but I’m currently trying to get everything to tabletop standard for a doubles tourney in 2 weeks!

Baggronor:

Very nice  Really liking the lanky hobgoblins and the painting on the bronze.

Border Reiver:

Where did you get all the Marauder Drums for the BB hats?

A lot of patience was involved in this! I posted on many, many forums and gathered spare bits from by club, my brother's commision work, and generally all over the place!

I believe some people on here were very helpful with a prveious bits hunt of mine.

Pyro Stick:

Your lava effect is really good and i really like what you have done with the taurus. Ill definately be following this blog and be putting it on my list of noteworthy blogs.

Kera foehunter:

great paint job!! Freaking cool chaos hell canon

apocalypstia:

nice vibrant lava effects, like that hefty axe on the hero… beefy and brutal. Shaping up to be one fine looking army of Dawi Zharr.

kefas:

hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm I would like to write: FANTASTIC! especialy fire and lava painting! Proper work maelzch !

My only one small sugestion: IMHO those lava/fire lines should be different colour than only orange… propably Im wrong! so don’t worry

Sargoth The Enslaver:

Well I must say that I love the sained metel very Chaos Dwarfy it is!

maelzch:

I’ve finished my thunderbusses (thunderers for ‘counts as’, blunderbusses for CDs)

and the back rank, showing my magnetised movement trays, lines of 5 for these guys

Now to just do the bolt thrower, then I’m done for the Charge!!

wallacer:

Truly superb. The bases are just great, they really set the whole figure off nicely.

tjub:

I like the way you paint metal parts! Good looking unit aswell…
