[Archive] New Dwarf fiction not mentionning CD

ashur:

Does anyone have that Tome of Salvation? Does it say anything about Hashut?

Until know GW do his best not to reveal to much about the new CD (asuming that they have something planned). But they keep talking about deamons (SoC, grudge bearer, palace of the plague lord, manslayer).

In Giantslayer, Gotrek says that the Old Ones temple in Albion look like the CD zigurats, wich seems to implie that he had travel to the Dark Lands.

Men and elves know the existence of “whole armies of dwarfs dedicated to the ruinous powers”. Both Felix and Teclis mention them, and each time Gotrek almost goes berserk, especially with Teclis. He take the mention to Cd as a straight accusation.

All this give even more interest to the Dwarf/CD relation. We know that they hate each other, but we dont know exactly what do they think. It is another of the many aspects that need to be clarified.

Uzkul Werit:

I think the reason the Dawi Zharr aren’t mentioned in this fiction is because if it’s written from a Dwarf point of view, they hate them that much.

Kera foehunter:

well if the dwarfs hated us so much we be in there book of grudges. or they have a book of grudges just for us

I think the book of grudges is for wrongs done against Dwarfs by other races, as opposed to betrayals by their own.
The "defection" of CD isn't really seen by normal Dwarfs as a grudge, but rather a profound and shameful betrayal that must be concealed at all costs.
Needless to say, CD have a slightly different take on it.

I think CD were deliberately removed from the book of grudges and family trees to help conceal the truth.

Grimstonefire:

I pestered Nick a bit more on Grudgelore ;)IMO the decision was not his to exclude the CD.I get the impression its a blanket policy for anything more than a sentence or two.Which seems a little odd considering the numerous novels mentionning them.

I hear you on the Chaos Dwarf front, I’m sure we’d all like to know more about them and their background. Alas, it’s one of those taboo subjects right now and, as such, they don’t get a mention in Grudgelore. There is scope to possibly include a mention of them in future books, but I wouldn’t bank on that either.

It’s fair to say that Dwarfs will never ever mention Chaos Dwarfs in their books of grudges or even speak of them - they are the dark secret, the most heinous shame they must keep and endure. It didn’t feel right for the scholar to speculate on them either as it wasn’t directly relevant to the extracts of the books of grudges on which his commentary was based.

There are plenty of other cool revelations in the book, though, many of which have never before been revealed so hopefully that will lessen the blow somewhat.
Interesting though his looking specifically on the shame the Dwarfs face. Not anger, or despair.Supports what I thought anyway.

I didn’t think that they would exclude them entirely from ever appearing in the books of grudges… So no matter what we do to them they will never ever write it down in their official books as a grudge to be avenged? Perhaps they have seperate secret notes? Or just really good memories? Or perhaps all the grudges are rolled into one big grudge that doesn’t need writing down?

ashur:

That shame is due to their kin being corrupted by Chaos and/or because they where unable to help them?

According to the old background, they thought the eastern dwarfs had been destroyed by chaos and then abandoned any plan of helping them. Could it be that dwarfs feel guilty for not helping their kin when they had the chance? CD call them traitors for abandon them.

Arlon:

if its a book not metioning chaos dwarfs then why is in chaos dswarf discussion shouldnt it be in warhammer discussion

Uzkul Werit:

So we’re a little like the Nemesis Crown.

Grimstonefire:

I had a look in Tome of Salvation today.

Even worse than Tome of Corruption. Basically one small line to say that Hashut’s Spheres of Influence covered Arcane Engineers, Chaos, dark magic etc. Meant to write it down, but its nothing new. Definately not worth buying just to read that bit

Arlon:

how was the rest of the book

Grimstonefire:

To be honest I was in a hurry and only looked at the Hashut bit. The WHRP stuff generally is very good from what I’ve read.

Ronshank:

Funny how a book about Dwarves leaves out so many of the “other” branches of the dwarf family. Is this a no true dwarves but us party. I think their good kin in forign parts wouldn’t take kindly to no mention. With the old law on CD talking about the many pages in both the wellknown Dwarf and Chaos Dwarf grudge books, come on we are so in there. This simply isn’t the “complete history” it is touted as. Besides how would they be able to fight the CD when the time came when all mention of CD is lost to them while we still have all their tricks recorded (upper hand much). I imagine Dwarf armegeddon were both sides meet and fight until there are no dwarves left, much better than the “they were pushed to the limits by other forces and just died out” version of events.

bah humbug no extra fluff for us for Christmas :frowning:

Kera foehunter:

Well the dwarf leve a lot out. They dont talk about a lot of the colony of dwarfs in lustra the norca dwarfs and the pirates dwarfs .Dwarfs that does not have kin to the blood line.
