[Archive] New Space Marine...uhhhh...things...?

Thommy H:

Actually there aren’t many Space Marines at all - it’s the Imperial Guard who die in droves. And the resources for it come from the million or more planets the Imperium rules. If there’s one believable aspect of 40K, it’s actually the logistics!

The thing is, they are far more represented in the game than in the fluff. Space Marines outnumber every other faction combined, by a mile. In the grim dark future, there is mostly space marine vs space marine war.

The huge disconnect between the fluff and the games played is rather comical. It's like if Chaos Dwarfs were used by >60% of warhammer players, and without Hobgoblins.

Quite frankly I can't associate the popularity of an army to its background. I like Lizardmen, I played them for about 6 years, and ended up owning around 10 thousand points of scaly buggers. In my club they were pretty famous, but this doesn't mean that Lizardmen dominate the Warhammer world (for now ;)).

I mean, seriously, look at the amount of High Elves & Dark Elves players! There's a lot of them around yet Elves should be a dying race ("and rightfully so" said in a grumpy old Dwarven voice).

Ya... this was more my point about there being a disconnect between how many Space Marines are being expended vs how special they are in the fluff.

Ummmmmm....

More here, as if that's going to help.

Just found this... What the Hell are these abominations???

Threadbare:

Those figs were worth it just for this.

I’ll just leave this:

May the moulds and sculpter burn. Until they’re ash

Grimstonefire:

Every time I see those models I try and think if there is a way they could be made to look cool. Whether by changing the pose or by heavy conversion. I’m still struggling to see a way…

Ummm, it’s probably the sleep deprivation from looking after 2 sick kids, but I was (almost) thinking of putting a dwarf/squat into the assault version - Exo Armour returns?
