[Archive] Pappa Midnights Chaos Dwarf Army: *New Harquebusiers* added 08 Jan 2018

Darkmeer:

Thank you for the side-by-side of the Dwarf and the Golem. They both look great, and they look like they will fit together very well, too!

Pappa Midnight:

Thanks, I’m quite pleased with the colour of the golems. I used Vallejo “luftwaffe uniform” paint with black ink to tone it right down.

The bases are 50mm resin bases from Foundations of War.

Abecedar:

The golems are suddenly something I need now. Jealousy probably

Pappa Midnight:

Just a quick update of my progress.

I am about half way through a unit of Harquebusiers which I should finish in the next day or so. I have replaced my Mantic Abyssal units with RA minis and have a siege giant which I will start shortly.

Here’s a quick pic of my banner for the Harquebusiers.

Just a quick bit of Photoshopping from some images I grabbed off the net.

Abecedar:

A quick bit of photoshopping would give me a blank rectangle.

It looks great. Will you be able to curl / braid the beard using the electronic magic machine?

Quoted, and maybe add a forked tongue sticking out? That would make for an absolutely awesome banner!!!

Pappa Midnight:

Thanks gents. I was thinking that the banner wasn’t quite right ( beard etc) but I had already test printed some decals and have run out of decal paper!!! Hey ho…

Anyhow, here’s my completed Russian Alternative Harquebusiers. I had them originally in metal but replaced them with the resin versions. I will probably use the metal ones for conversions etc.

I’ve put them in a similar movement tray to the Immortals using crackle paint for the surface and putting lava details in each slot so it looks better when you remove casualties.

They were a pain to rank up but I think they look ok.

Abecedar:

They do more than look okay. I love how the crackle-ing works out.

Which system do you play again?

TheHoodedMan:

The movement tray looks absolutely great. Well done!

My Harquebusiers are Resin, too, and I am glad that I didn`t have them in metal because all the pinning is much easier with resin.

Admiral:

Stunning regiment. The crackle effect is the icing on the cake.

Pappa Midnight:

Thanks gents. I’ll be doing movement trays using the same method for all of my units.

Abecedar
I’m putting them together as a Dragon Rampant force. Sort of large skirmish with units ranging from 1 to 12 minis. I say “large” skirmish as some armies can be 60+ minis.

I should have my unit of Badger Berserkers finished pretty soon and have just added an Iron Daemon and Magma Cannon to my to do list ( courtesy of my wife for my Birthday).

Jackswift:

Just beautiful. The harquebusiers continue the incredible paint jobs. You are going to have a stunning army on the table top.

Fuggit Khan:

Simply beautiful <3

I wish there were words that could adequately describe how much I love your painting skills…but words fail me.

:cheers

Bloodbeard:

Another amazing unit. You have a very high output, go a very high standard. Excellent work PM.

And I must say your banner is looking cool on the unit. Very pirate! Goes well with the guns.

Skink:

Seriously, like most people I am absolutely taken aback by your painting, choice of colors, and that standard!!! You said that you printed it on decal paper? How do you do it? Any chance of a tutorial (as in, which software/settings you used, where did you get the decal paper, etc.)???

Pappa Midnight:

Thank you all very much for your kind comments.

I use an old copy of Photoshop to layer and alter images ( not the most up to date version but it does the job). The paper is from a specialist supplier and is designed to be used in a laser printer ( I use my wife’s). What I like about it is that there is no messing about with fixing sprays, you just print it off and let it dry. Then you just treat it like any other decal ( cut out, soak in water and apply).

The version I have prints onto a clear film so you have to remember to paint the area you are applying it to white, otherwise the background colour will bleed through and it will not work properly. I always print off a test copy first on normal A4 to check that the scale is right before using the decal paper.

A top tip is to squeeze as many decals as you can onto one sheet so you don’t end up wasting any. Also have at least two copies of the image on the sheet in case you mess one up when you are applying it.

The supplier where I got the paper is:

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Glad I was of some help and thank you for the slaves. If you have any questions about using the paper feel free to contact me.

Pappa Midnight:

Just completed my unit of Berserkers which I will either field as Bellicose Foot troops or possibly Elite Cavalry. They are Mantic Brock Riders and were great fun to paint. The pictures are a little dark which is pretty weird as I’m using the same camera set-up I normally do…

This musician is probably my favourite one. I love his drum/standard instrument.

Hope you like them.

Wow I had never seen those before :o . I am sure I would never face an angry badger in battle
