[Archive] PM's Blood Bowl Stuff...Chaos Dwarf Team Finished 16 April 2017

Pappa Midnight:

Hi all,

I got the new release of BB for Christmas and thought I’d create a thread for my Teams as I paint them. I originally had Undead, Elves, Orcs and Chaos back in the day but they are long gone. The new plastics aren’t too bad and I’ve quite enjoyed doing them so far. I need more Blitzers and Black Orks as well as a Troll and Gobbo to finish the Ork team and I’ve got the Skaven Scramblers set primed and ready to paint. When I’ve worked through them I will be investing in a Chaos Dwarf team, although the expense may mean it takes a while.

Any how, my Orks so far:

Work in progress Shot

Blitzer

Black Ork Blocker

Thrower

Linemen

One of Each “Type”

The Team So Far

I went for a yellow colour scheme as I will be reserving red for the Chaos Dwarfs.

Hope you like them.

Abecedar:

God, the amount of iron on them is a bit 40k ish for me but very nice none the less for it.

So Orks first, then Skaven, then CD’s. After that?

Miasma:

Absolutely love the Yellow scheme, incredibly well painted.

Pappa Midnight:

Thank gents, I had a lot of fun painting these.

I agree they are quite heavily armoured and it’s probably my colour scheme that makes them look 40k ish ( I used a similar one for Gorkamorka way back when…

Orks and Skaven first just because I have them really ( i’m trying not to increase my un-painted mountain too much!) and then obviously CDs. Unfortunately the classic CDs will probably look a little small with the new releases so I will go for Meiko’s version of evil dwarfs. Their CDs, Bulls and Hobgobs are very nice and their minotaur is brilliant!

Next I will be looking at Undead, Chaos and possibly the new Dwarfs ( as guest team for my mate to use).

This will probably be a long haul but I will update as I go.

Jackswift:

Coming along very nicely. I very much dig the blue and white (vs. black and white) checks as contrast to the primary color, and the battle damage/mud/weathering on armor is also ace.

TheHoodedMan:

A very cool team. I like how you did the checkers; they look both rough and precise at once :cheers

Slavemaster Hod:

Nice orks. I always have like the yellow and checker with them, it just goes so well with the green.

tjub:

Looks ace!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Pappa Midnight:

Thanks gents. I’m currently trying to convince my wife that I need a Chaos Dwarf team and that there is a method as to why I have so many unpainted minis… wish me luck!!!

Abecedar:

Ah, Asking the wife, thats certainly a different tactic to what I use.

Abecedar
what is yours?
My tactic is to buy so much my wife looses track of my models ;).

I just make sure my wife never needs to get me presents - I buy minis and give them to her, then she hides them until the next holiday. It gives me a reason to get excited about holidays - when I have months worth of mini acquisitions coming my way - and she likes it because she doesn't have to worry about buying me stuff I don't want.

Abecedar:

I used to buy heaps, get them delivered to work and pretend innocence

Pappa Midnight:

I managed to generate a little extra “hobby” cash by selling some bits on Ebay and so I’ve taken the plunge and ordered a CD team. I went for Meiko miniatures and although they are expensive, I really like them.
It may be a while before they turn up so here’s a couple of pix from the Comixininos website where I got them.

These should keep me busy for a while!

On a separate note I found a really neat on-line tool for generating rosters which you can print off.

Slavemaster Hod:

Nice haul - and way of acquiring it :cheers

I’ve never seen those before. Looking forward to seeing you paint on them. What color scheme you thinking?

Pappa Midnight:

I’m pretty pleased that I got them basically for “nothing” ( selling stuff I hadn’t even looked at for years!).

I will be going for the same sort of colour scheme as my CD army ( The “Hashut Red Hats”) and I am looking at different shades of metallic red chequers for the shoulder pads. The Hobgobs will probably have a red and white “split” livery like a medieval surcoat to set them apart.

Pappa Midnight:

I’ve just completed some additional Orc blitzers and a Troll. One of the blitzers has a converted 40k head and the troll is by Willy Miniatures.

I have received all of my CD order and they are currently under-coated and ready to go.

Pappa Midnight:

I’ve been tied up with all sorts of work stuff lately so I have had very little time for anything else. I have managed to get these varnished and based. Hope you like them.

I should have the Minotaur finished soon.

Slavemaster Hod:

Wow, I really like how those two guys turned out. Great red as always.

Pappa Midnight:

Thanks mate. I’m glad you like them. I was a little worried as I managed to “frost” them with my first coat of varnish ( I changed varnish brand) and had to rescue them with a respray and some hand brushing. You can still see the odd speck of white in the photos, although not visible to the naked eye.
