[Archive] Say yes to RedBull Centaur!

Barukh:

that deters me…back to fireborn!

Karring:

Got an answer from FW no Great Weapon or command options.  Hand Weapon and shield only I'm afraid.

Cheers

I agree. I was thinking of using the HW shield option anyway for the unit. This is what I was thinking
3 + full command , HW+Shield and Movement Banner, then Throw in a Taur'uk (GW, Dragon Helm, crown of Command, Luck Stone)

Quick Stubborn block that is really hard to wound, solid against infantry and Taur'uk could bring the pain.

Musicians are easy to model, I would need a Standard, which wouldn't be too bad, then just find some way to get a GW onto the Taur'uk. That might need some arm repositioning, but seams doable.

I do like the models, and have been waiting for them to build a super fast Monster Mash list.

thanks for the news, although i'm not happy to hear it.

i guess i can convert . . . :(

Baggronor:

Very disappointing to see no command or weapon options. Why go so far as to make awesome minis then not bother with a few extra weapons/bits that will boost sales? :~

A few spare Ogre parts should do the trick I guess.

Both Ogres and Minotaurs have plastic Great weapons and standard bearers which should have large-ish hands. Minotaurs also have a musician, and extra hand weapons too. Aside from that, I'm not sure what else you could use that have a lot of weapon options.

It really is too bad that they aren't doing a command set and Taur-uk separately, but, I suppose the Fimir, Ka'ddai, and Plague Ogres would have had the same issue.

gIL^:

I wonder if people will just let me use Fimir, They are great but expensive, ( I want to make a whole army ) Maybe a OK Fimir army.

brotsorrow:

not surprised to hear that there will be no GW or command BCs… but really, is anyone surprised?

Can any of the guys that actually make models tell me how much cost/money would FW have to invest in prepping a Tarukh, GW options, and command unit would be?

The cost of making the masters for a Taur'uk, great weapons and the moulds for resin? Very little.

To give you an idea, my silicone moulds cost me under £100 to make and then any costs for metal/resin on top. Obviously my time is free for me, but there is a hefty sculptor's fee for FW. Beyond that, they would have 'big business'-type costs that I don't have, but it's still a fairly small amount overall I think. Steel production moulds are where things get expensive, but those aren't for resin.

brotsorrow:

It just doesn’t make sense to me to not provide options like that, especially since 8th is gw dependent. Plus, knowing that there is a market for BCs and any chaos dwarf models, I’m sure a presale can make up a lot of the costs…

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll be able to copy any of your great ideas when you guys start converting

Honestly we are lucky to get bull centaur models at all so if you want GW's best get the clippers and putty out.

BC without GW is the least of our issues, We don't have A Kdaii Destroyer, Blunderbuss minis, No hobgoblins, No wolf Riders No Great Taurus or Lammasu ( Early 90's ones of Finecast? Bah )and no Ironsworn, If you want a full Chaos Dwarf army you need to convert.

Barukh:

??? We have a taurus and lammasu. It is just on the GW site. Blunderbuss minis, just clip the hacky bits off the fireglaive. Ironsworn, just paint differently, particularly their weapons. The Destroyer and hobgobs are the only thing we actually lack.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

In the theme of all things Chaos Dwarfy, we’ve been given the opportunity to convert for command. Rejoice because that’s what fielding a Chaos Dwarf army is all about!

You guys make some valid points and have turned my complaining into thankfulness :).

Cheers - and here’s to an eventual great thread on BC conversions!!!

Yes but conversion work is needed as is my point.

Also the old GT and Lammasu do not cut it, lammasu has cult status funky factor going for it but the GT is so horrid it makes me question the existence of Hashut.

Naagruz:

Making an assumption on bigness, Minotaur bits might just be the best bet for GW conversions. The axe/shield combo just seems too civilized for all the rampagey-ness of the models.

The Perry models & Mantic proxies are going to look really out of place on a base that size.:o

I played a storm of magic battle with my Lamassu. It was parked on a Fulcrum, and except the fact that it's magic was quite fun (it was a four way battle, and the fighting was going on at the base of my fulcrum), not even an emperor dragon was able to shift it from it's vantage point.

Epic Lamassu for the win!

Thruthfully though, in a regular battle it'll be more 'allright' than 'awesome!'

Admiral:

Superb models!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Thorgar:

Wow, I really like these. I wasnt expecting them to have horns on their heads but it looks alright. They also look pretty big, which kind of hurts my brain because I know these will be expensive as hell.

Kind of dissapointed about no great weapons/command team…the concept art had great weapons. Like that long axe that looked sweet. Im not so sure I like these shields the models have. Real shame they couldnt make variants of these just with the arms redone/repositioned with great weapons.

Im guessing these 3 will be the only ones we get, a pack of 3…cost is an arm and leg.
