Yodrin:

Thats a very nice looking 4some… Throw a lady in there and go wild…, but seriously great!

Traxo:

Thanks for the comments guys!

Im thinking a fair bit about the warriors now, and cant really decide on a shield design - i have made some sketches, and would really like your opinion:

Please let me know what you think

-Jon

Yodrin:

I would say D and F. I prefere the shields to be longer than wider

Traxo:

D and F seems like strong choices  Another forum however, mentioned option C, but with the indent in the lower right corner removed, so its more squarelike… How do people like that idea?

I Think i will make some more armatures this weekend, and maybe do a step-by-step guide, since a friend of mine requested one

Have a nice weekend!

Chico:

D and E for me

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Sticklander:

D and F seem like the most practical.

Traxo:

Your opinions is really worth alot to me! Thanks alot guys!

I have pondered a bit more on the matter, and have come up with some new designs:

A cogwheel inspired one, which a friend of mine have bugged me for a looong time, and a evolution of E/F

What do you think?

GDD:

E/F is perfect. The little “V” on the frame is just the right amount of detail to make it unique.

Yodrin:

E/F looks good, not a fan of round ones

Bloodbeard:

I like F and the new one that looks like F.

Or B. It makes sense to remove that corner i B. It’ll allow the wielder to cover much of his body and head - and still be able to see what’s going on. The shield designs with other corners missing, doesn’t make much sense.

Traxo:

Good news everybody! I actually got some work done

I have settled for the E/F shield, and have started making a tester… That said, i will definatly keep the cogwheel one for a engineer-inspired hero

I have started the warriors these last couple of days, and now have some basic armatures with skirts done…

Darkstone Warriors:

A wee start… I plan on making 4 different ones like the Gunners… And try to very the pose as much as possible (a leftie is already in progress)

On the sideline, i have started a “secret” project, i will like to show a little WIP of - if some of you manage to guess what this mini will end up as, i will reward you with a unique piece of concept art of the finished miniature

And lastly, a little picture of a comission project im working on for a friend - a ironbreaker inspired dwarven lord… The picture is a little rough, he is a lot cleaner IRL

Thanks for the look, and stay tuned! One of these days i will upload a step-by-step guide to how making armatures my way

Yodrin:

Wow, looks really good so far!!!

BABIS:

even if I don’t like “non-big hats” chaos dwarfs I must admit that your works are brilliant

BABIS
I agree, great stuff...I'm loving your progress and hoping for a Big Hat eventually ;)
And your Dwarven Lord is awesome...your best sculpt I think, I especially like the detail on his shoulder pauldrons (they vaguely remind me of Judge Dredd, who I also love) :cheers

Traxo:

Thanks for all the awesome replies - i will answer them tomorrow…

I just wanted to share a Quick sketch i did - its my vision of a darkstone warrior:

-Jon

Sticklander:

Your sculpting skills translate to paper too! Impressive sketch!

GDD:

Love the axe, and variety in shoulder armor. In historical martial arts it makes sense to have the 90 degrees shoulder armor on the left side, so always glad when I see it in fantasy armor.

If I where going to give you some criticism I would like the shield to be even bigger. Since it is a semi kite-shield it should be longer (BUT) I love the proportions of the shield, so I’d just like to see it bigger.

Yodrin:

Thats a great sketch, impressive!!

Glimpse the Void:

I really like where that’s going, and the shield you settled on seems to combine the best features of all your designs.

Bloodbeard:

Nice drawing. Don’t know if it’s the intention, but that shield really looks like a bulls head. The two large scratches looking like angry eyebrows.

It’s awesome! Go with that design. And peehaps put a single bulls ring at the bottom.

Only CC is I think the Dawi Zharr should be broader. He’s a bit skinny I think.
