Well, its been rather quiet over the holidays, but i thought i would chime in on this last day of the year and give you a little update…
First, thanks alot for all the comments - its things like this that keeps me motivated
Willmark and Yodrin - thanks guys - i will do my very best, no doubt about it!
Bloodbeard - I think you pretty much nailed how i intent to make my goblins, once i get to them - and i think bows will be the first ones i make… But its a bit off in the future… My immidiate plan is to make the Blunderbusses, a few heroes and hw+shield or GW armed unit, depending on what i need (and what people would be interested in…)
I got a little sculpting done after christmas, and the loading blunderbuss dwarf (or blunder nr 3 as he will be called from now on) is coming along nicely… Im not overly fond of the hand grasping in to the pouch, but i recon it will be mostly covered by beard, so i think i will leave is as it is…

I also made a new body for the other shooting dwarf (still debating with myself if he should be a lefty), and tried triangular scales… Damn thats hard to make! If anyone has some good tips, please let me know… If i get these to work, i intent to mix and match scaletypes to differentiate the dwarfs a bit more…

As a finishing shot, i will show you blunders 1 and 2 in their current state (which is ready for casting
)

I cleaned them up, and attached pegs to their bases - i also added the last rivets and pouches and so
Thats all i got to show for now - i hope you all get a wonderfull New Years Eve, and a happy New Year
-Jon
Bassman:
Wow, the two finished blunders are very nice. I’m longing to see them painted!
tjub:
Agree, great work!
This message was automatically appended because it was too short.
Yodrin:
Very nice indeed!!

Traxo:
Thanks guys!
Bassman - regarding to painting them, its a bit off in the future… I first have to get them cast, and i cant do that, until i have enough models to fill a mastermould
By the way, does anyone know a good contract-caster in the EU? It doesnt matter if its resin or metal…
-Jon
Traxo:
Allrighty then!
I got some more work done on the loading blunderbuss-dwarf, and he is already looking considerably more evil

As usual, a lot of work left, but atleast i fell like im going somewhere
Have a nice sunday!
-Jon
Chico:
Loving these, keep them coming
Traxo:
Chico - Thanks mate, i definately plan too!
I got some work done on blunder nr 4, and his basic body is about done:

Thanks for looking…
-Jon
Traxo:
Okay, lets get this thing rolling!
Despite my son being sick, and real life in general treating me kinda bad, i managed to get some more work done… But first, a little disclaimer: from now on, i will call these dwarfs for “Darkstone Dwarfs”, and these models in particular for "Darkstone Dwarf Gunners"
I do this because i mainly want to differentiate from GW and FW, and ofcourse for legal reasons, since i probably will end up selling a few of them… I will go through all the old post later, and fix the names
With that out of the way, and can show you the progress on Gunner nr 3 and 4… First we have nr 3, which now have both of his arm, and a more detailed gun:

As some may notice, his left shoulderguard got a new trim… The reason for that is because i finally found a caster! He, however, does not like plasticcard in the sculpts, so i had to replace that part… It was a small deal though, and im thoroughly excited that i finally found a professional to get my stuff cast!
Gunner nr 4 also got some work done, and he is finally looking a lot more like a dwarf! As usual, still a lot of details left, but i like the direction he is heading:

I think i will call this unit done after these 4 are finished… And start on a new unit… But time will tell
Let me know what you all think!
-Jon
Yodrin:
They look really good, and unit of 30 of those 4 mixed, is going to look pretty sweet!!!
Chico:
Darkstone Nr3 has to be my favourite so far.
Traxo:
Yodrin - Yeah, i think it would look pretty neat too…
Chico - i really like him too, he looks so menacing… My GF thinks he looks too skinny though, but i really cant see it?
Anyways, here is a progress shot of Gunner nr 4 - his helmet is now finished (or is it? i might just add a top spike to it - what do people think?), and he got his other arm… Just missing details now…

Sorry for the shoddy pics…
-Jon
Bloodbeard:
Just awesome. The look really great - I especially like the loading guy.
And don’t put a spike on gunner 4’s helmet - or if you do put spikes on all the miniatures.
Do you plan on making 3 command group miniatures?
Sticklander:
Really liking how these are progressing!
Any plans to work on warriors?
Chico:
No spikes please, it’ll ruin the flow of the figures. As for Nr looking skinny its just the way the waist is, but I wouldn’t change it. I second a command group and Warriors
Plus Um… errr everything
Traxo:
Bloodbeard - i see what you mean about the spikes… I think i will save the spikes for command groups and so - and yes, i plan to make a 3 model command group
Sticklander - thanks man! And if you by warriors mean hw+shield dwarfs, yes… That will be the next unit i begin working on
Fuggit Khan:
Great stuff here in your blog…some very inspirational work that really adds to the CDO community. I love all the original sculpts/conversions that people post here on CDO…and your green stuff work is a great example of all the wonderful creativity going on in this community.
Looking forward to seeing more :cheers
Traxo:
Thanks Fuggit! Its really an awesome comment to get, when it comes from a talented guy like yourself!
To satisfy you Fuggit (and all the other readers) i have snapped the two last gunners from the cork, and cleaned them up for the bases… This means, i can now proudly present the first finished unit of Darkstone Dwarfs - The Gunners… (Yes, they miss some rivets and bits and bobs, but you get the overall picture)

Im really proud of them, and i learned a ton doing them! Im so excited to continue work on the Darkstone Dwarfs, and hope you all will tag along for this wonderful journey im making…
-Jon
Bassman:
These little chaps are getting better and better. My compliments, keep the good job on!
