[Archive] Show us...Your workstation!

Abecedar:

Is this fair?  I have to build a new cupboard for my hobby (almost done) because my corner is too untidy.  I’ve counted her side (3/4 of the room) and she has over 16 different bags of crochet stuff there that migrate around as she needs them.

Oh… and a large visiting aunty broke my good chair.

Abecedar:

But as all men know there is “just no pleasing them”

Fuggit Khan:

Is this fair?

Abecedar
Well, if your wife is happy, then yes, it's fair ;P
When I got married, me and my wife laid out some ground rules beforehand, basically rules that should not be broken or else a divorce would ensue. She told me to not lie or cheat...and I told her not to touch my model table.
The marriage has worked out great since :hat off

Aw, see I'm always trying to encourage my girlfriend to take part in painting with me. Maybe I should see how we feel if we get married/live together! ;P

OT: I'll be posting my workstation once the Golden Hat is over, as it's littered with related bits and pieces at the mo'!

Sticklander:

Aaaand here is my work station. I didn’t realise how blurry the picture I took was, but you get the gist of it!

After taking this picture, I had quite a bit of a tidy… But it would have been dishonest to show you the tidy version!

Abecedar:

My new work station …

From this thing I’d made years ago.

To this. The base with a new top and an old stationary cabinet.

To this and now my corner is all neat and tidy… if I put things back in it.

New mini paint station. It fits into the cabinet where the giant is pictured above.

Admiral:

Now that looks neat. Good improvement, Abecedar.

Dînadan:

About time I got in on this; here’s mine (looking a lot tidier than normal admittantly):

Bloodbeard:

Time to join in! Here’s a picture of my workstation yesterday:

Besides the two boxes on the floor I had another one filled with junk. And the tray in the back is “my current project tray”. So I can easily take the project into the living room etc. … Well it’s been drowning in stuff and bits.

Decided it was time for a clean up, sorting out, throwing out and getting things in line. This morning my workstation looks like this:

Every single warhammer project is now in 1 box! All my paint is in the ammo box and the tray holds stuff for sale/give away. Will make a pst in the market section with this.

All bits has been cut off sprues and sorted into plastic organizing boxes. Building materials is an a box for themselves, all tools in another, basing material in it’s own. A have a large back with troops and all bits for the Empire Army project, a bag with the woodelf project. For my CD’s I have individual bags, with troops, bits, parts for all the upcomming projects: Taurus+lord, lammasu, siege giant, 30 steamguard, 6 BCs+Tauruk, 25 blunderbuss, 2nd and 3ed regiment, bighat heroes, dreadquake, deathshrieker, hobgoblins - all ready to rock n roll.

They are even packed into the box in order of making. Emissaries first, then Destroyer, then BCs and so on.

Abecedar:

Just to re-fresh your memories, this is my work station back in late 2014. That is my corner and it is all neat and tidy… if I put things back in it.

My new corner  …
Just before Xmas my wife expressed the opinion that she didn’t like my cupboard, in my corner because she didn’t like it.  Being the man of the house I told her that I liked it and was not going to change it and immediately exited the room before any ensuing conversation could continue.
Next thing I know we are in Ikea up in Canberra (2 hours away) and I’m being shown cupboards and stuff.  At this point discretion came to the fore instead of valour and the wallet took a rather large hit.

This is my corner now.  I now have a display stand with some of my models in it and a new Hobby cupboard.

The cupboard is okay.  It has taken me weeks, on and off, over Xmas to sort out how to set it up.  The fold down top doesn’t sit flat and I’m scared to just drag things out onto it in case it gets scratched.  It is also some inches higher than the old one which I had built to suit me perfectly, so that is awkward and I’ve lost most of my lighting set-up.
Now I’ll have to carry in (and out each time I want to do stuff) that small computer table to put things on whilst I work on a project.

But the wife is happy…

Horace:

Very nice  I have a similar bureau type cupboard I use for my painting station since I got banned from painting on a tray in the front room when we moved house and got a new carpet/sofa.

Your display case is really nice, I wanted one but that got poo pooed by my wife so all my stuff is just stacked up in a cupboard. Will take some photos later

TheHoodedMan:

@Abecedar: Very nice!

Still…:).

I hope you will show us a pic in one year again. Like “before/after” pictures :cheers.

TheHoodedMan
Hahaha! Yes, a good idea! :hat off

Willmark:

Since my last pics for this are from 2013 right after we moved into the new house its time for an update as I start getting back into the swing of things.

Abecedar:

That’s not a work-station (moon), That’s a Man Cave (Battle-station)

Willmark:

Funny you should say that as my wife and I call it the man cave.

Horace:

My rather messy painting station:

And the cupboard where all my painted stuff is stashed away:

Need to sort it all out really, get everything properly organised

Abecedar:

You need more lighting to do your work by and a display case with glass all-round. May I suggest Ikea.

And whatever is on top of ‘Your’ Paint Table does not look at all appropriate.
