Skaven players.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Actually, I’d like to open a resturaunt/hobby/gaming store. Then players can get a meal while they play games. Yeah…it would be a Tiki resturaunt to go with my Tiki mugs…and to get a Tiki sale!

You should sell food but not drinks, wargaming and alcool together could destroy old friendships x.x .... and consumer arguing about hellshaker range could destroy your restaurant! :cheers

Back to topic: a lot of people here in Italy love hellcannon style and wanted to see a new dwarf army full of twisted war machines. I think they could sell pretty well if they design the army properly and provide them with decent miniatures... :~

Add pirate wenches and I'm sold. Heck I'll even move to Canada just to be near that store/restaurant/etc.

Not necessarily, I know many players who swear by drunk Warhammer, or tipsy Warhammer rather. It is actually an often put question during our tournaments whether they are allowed to have beer while gaming. To which we must unfortunately reply tell them that we cannot allow that in the premises we have available.

BilboBaggins:

My personal idea was a huge gaming store and lease part of the building to a company that sells food and soda/juices. That way I didn’t have to bother myself with the food inspectors.

Servius:

It could work… I will note. Gamers are dirty people I hate to point it out… Its a majority but they are dirty… When I worked at my local people would leave half eaten pizzas under tables and kick over Cokes and not care, etc… So beware your Health Inspections. Or just rent a space nextdoor and get the owner to put in the require things you need and ask them to take out a wall to give you a set of french doors so that you could keep it closed when you werent serving food.

BilboBaggins:

I was thinking no food near the gaming tables (sealable drinks would be allowed) or RC/Slot track I would also have. They could eat in the pits/painting area and just have the staff clean up the trash daily after telling the gamers that they must clean up after themselves.

apocalypstia:

as too potential fan base for chaos dwarfs, we are here so its a known fact there is a “cult” following. An updated list would give the chance for the fanbase to grow even more.

Most of have had friends/players who jump on something just because its new, so there is always the initial rush of players/fanatics. If the rules are decent and the minis good then more will stick around and we would need to build more ziggarauts. The flash in the pan players will move on, the base will continue to grow.

I know of an immediate handful of people/gamers whow would more than welcome a renewed official cd army. And in that same handful only 1 or 2 would actively pursue a cd army without an official update.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Billbo…if you want to become a partner of my store…and front a lot of $$$…I’d be happy to get this going!

BilboBaggins:

If I had a lot of money I would already have the store, or a chain of stores. Bring in Kera to enforce the rules.

Kera foehunter:

Hey i could be your pirate wrench !! that’s what im doing now
waiting on people and serving drinks

BilboBaggins:

Pirate Wench, yes that would be good, all I need is cash to start up the business and hope my wife doesn’t kill me when you show up. Nah, she wouldn’t kill me, she trusts me.

What’s powerball up to this weekend?

Alric:

Just out of curiosity, how big do you think the potential fanbase for a completely new Chaos Dwarf army would be?

I read time and time again all over the web that people think the CD fanbase would be pretty much restricted to CDO +HoH, and so there is no point whatsoever making a new army!

But then again, we're only the crazy few buying models for an army that is not supported in any way, has no models (except hellcannon), no rulebook, has not had an update in a very long time and has an uncertain future...

Doesn't exactly add up to Chaos Dwarfs having a fanbase now that's the size of Dwarfs/ Empire/ lizardmen etc does it...

I know there are certain armies that are much more popular than others, but is there any reason if they are done properly why Chaos Dwarfs would not sell equally as well as Dwarfs for instance?  Being a completely new army, for the first year of release would they not sell on a massive scale?

Just curious what people think.

From what I have experienced there is enough intetest in chaos dwarfs to release a new line of minitures. Everytime I play my army there are always players that would like to field a chaos dwarf army, most are chaos , orc , and/or dwarf army players.

As far as releasing a successful new chaos dwarf army all GW would have to do is create a reasonably strong army list with great looking minitures.

I think the one thing holding a new chaos dwarf army up is an appropriate theme. Although I like the big beards and hats semi-Assyrian/Babylonian style supposedly some dont but I think a strong army list and new mini's would over come this , imho.

BilboBaggins:

If they do release them I would like to see several head options in the box. Masks, Tusks and Beard or Big Hats.

If you just look over the various conversions I think you could come up with a hybrid hat/mask chaos dwarf. Ive looked at some of the conversions pictured on these forums and there are some examples of some excellent designs for a new chaos dwarf miniture line.

Alric
My current models are all Big Hat so I would like any new ones to be able to fit in easier. Yes I could convert the models but I'm not that good with the green stuff.

I think it's fair to say that the original big hats may be over sized to much, that a smaller hat with a mask and beard would be enough to distinguish the miniture line and maintaining the assyrian color as well, and would also leave room for spikes and horns adding to the variety and appeal of the minitures. Also as a big hat army general myself I would still feel my army fits in , my army would just be the bunch of guys that wanted really big hats :hat

Even tought I'm a big hat lover I think Snotling's style is the perfect example of a contemporary Chaos Dwarf army. Curly beards are here to stay, some masks, helms and most important leaders could have big hats. It's the steam punk fashion that really place Cds into contemporary Warhammer. It's no more time for funny and colorful early '90s Herohammer.
I love that background, I started the hobby in that time far and far away in time... :s but I recognized now Snotling/Hellcannon style suits more than big hat or old 3rd ed Cds.
If they made an army in Snotling's style, plenty of crazy warmachines it would appeal a lot of people. :hat

Thommy H:

Yeah, I’m awesome.

To add my own anecdotal evidence, all the gaming group I played with when I put together my Chaos Dwarf army loved what I was doing. The fact that I was pretty much the only one in the group that insisted on using a fully-painted, non-proxied army was perhaps a factor, but using Chaos Dwarfs definitely drew a lot of interest.

Willmark:

Fan base is an interesting question Grim: potentially it’s anyone who plays Warhammer and could happen if the rules were good enough.
