Clam: Good find! The ones in that image look amazing!

clam:

Can’t take credit for this. ‘dedwrekka’ found the banner add - I just brought the picturs

Kera foehunter:

look like big hat dwarfs!! At least this time they don’t look like short ogre!

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Nice look for the Dwarfs.

Kera foehunter:

Yea the little crown make it look like they won a miss universe contest

Tarrakk Blackhand:

LOL! Mrs Dwarf Universe?

CheTralfara:

Now I really wanna know… how is chainmail supposed to be made other than poking holes in the putty!?  I never knew there was any other way… perhaps weaving it together link by link, chain by chain, little by little with the thinnest string of putty imaginable?  As far as I’ve ever seen there is no other way to make chain-mail beyond poking holes in the putty.  Seems silly to me to expect otherwise, but maybe I could be corrected.

I do have to agree on the shield thingy between the legs… I’m completely confused as to how he could walk with that thing there… and what the hell it is even supposed to be there for…

I really don’t understand this “twirly bits” comment you made tommy… i don’t see anything twirly about this model at all…

I also felt bad about the weapon when I first saw it, but I’m not one to complain about someone who makes something that talented. It seems too barbaric for the greatest craftsman race around. It looks like a caveman made it… Dwarf weaponry is supposed to be ornate and well-crafted… BUT the skull on his head is THE SHIT!

That’s my 2 cents and a popsicle stick on it anyway…

It doesn't have to be one ridiculous extreme or the other. There are other ways of manipulating putty to make it look like chainmail, for example:

The point is that Scibor has just kind of randomly made little holes in a flap of green stuff without regard to whether the finished product actually looks like chainmail or not.

GRNDL:

@ CheTralfara

Even the most defined chainmail is still poking holes in putty, but the trick is to hook the pin under or into the holes to the side or above, so the finished texture has an interlinked feel to it. I think Thommy is pointing out that there is very little thought to how the holes/links are arranged - horizontal rows not lining up, or conforming to the shape of the sleeve as it curves across an arm and so on. Like all good art, you can’t just slap it down and expect or hope it to look good, you have to be careful and take time over it.

Willmark:

Let’s just say that everyone had differing opinions on it. Fair enough?

Kera foehunter:

its cool with me!!!

Tis very true.

What really matters is if you like the figure you're holding. Honestly, it's more important that you're happy with way your army looks and is presented then if someone agrees about a particular style.

Having said that, I suspect many of us are never truly content with our work... hence why we're constantly working away at figures and getting better over time. That's the case for me at least. Though I'm thinking I may finally have an army where I'm happy (once it is done)!

For protecting the jewels! LOL!

Xander:

I missed this topic while on vacation.

I think Scibor does some pretty cool work, but that doesn’t mean he’s immune to criticism. Is the Dwarf made the way I would choose to sculpt one? No, but it’s not my sculpt, so I don’t care. I will be receiving one of these for a prize! So I will see what I can so with it.

The tall hats look interesting. I hope the Dwarfs aren’t too tall! And I hope they aren’t too wide for a 20mm base. :S

they are designed as regiment members so they have to fit each other :)
