My first colour scheme is yours reversed, sort of, the undergarments are a dark red and the scales orange. though I haven’t done such a nice job on the blunderbuss as you have

Thanks Kera, I appricate your comments! Here is an update. Ive been at it for about 3 hours today with a breif snack and this update. I need now to figgure out what Ill be doing for the Hat Detail work. I think once I have that hammered out Ill be able to bust through this group and start on the next. Its the first few that are always the hardest (for me anyway). Once my colours are laid out I can usualy motor through a good portion of them perhaps 10-20 minis in about 2 weeks. And 1 more just for good measure....The dude looks like he is leaning, becaue he is! Here are 3 more shots from this afternoon. I went and saw the new Star Trek this morning and I have been thinking that while I was not disapointed with the film I could have saved money and been further along. I also orderd an Iron Deamon, Dreadquake, Magma Cannon , and some Bull Centaurs. Ill order more, but thatll be down the road a bit.
Glimpse the Void:
So much character. Thanks for the updates.
Gunnerson:
I tried running a Red mix on the hats but it does not seem to stand out from the other colors enough…Maby a grey…
Just created a photobucket for full size pics

So I am wanting to add some more pics and work ive been able to get done over the last week or so but I am kind of stuck. I want to add some larger pics like a number of the other blogs have but cant figgure out how. The best ive been able to assemble in my brain here is the the small pics you click on that open a new web page. Whats the trick to adding a full/good pic directly into a post?
Kamphre:
Did you tried the “Insert image” icon on the toolbar when you write a message?
Do not use the code given by your hosting site, get the image url and use the icon.
You should get that in your message:

If the image I use is saved on my pc rather than a website will that still work? And will I need to resize them?
Gunnerson:
So I am going for an update here. I am trying to add the images to the thread rather than the other way I had been doing. I need to do some work on the bases still. I also notice my photography skills seem to be lacking. Well heres nothing!
Fuggit Khan:
I like the bigger pictures you’ve added (I think I may have to do the same thing)…it really shows off what a nice color scheme you have going there. I honestly thought before that yellow colors were a bit too much for Chaos Dwarfs, but you have proven me wrong. You’ve got a really nice balance of the colors on your figs and I love the yellow scheme. Looking forward to seeing more

I knew I wanted a dark red and I had thought I might do a green or blue hat. After a test run I was not keen on that set of colors. I tried a couple of things that just didn't pan out. Then I saw the orange/yellow bits on the blunders and thought hey! I bet the reverse of the blunderbuss would look pretty sick on that hats! Needless to say at this point I did like the look and ran with it. I wanted the hats to be bright as I have noticed on other peoples minis the bright helmets look much cooler. Now to get going on my next batch after I finish these bases. The question is do I want to do more blunders or bust out a warmachine? Hmmm Ill try and think it over as I drift off to sleep.

So I decided to go with a Mortar before I bust out the next 10 Blunderbuss. I started converting an Ogre Slave to go with it. For the base I went with a really old movement tray to “flock” it I used blue painters tape to mark my squares for my bases for the mortar ogre and dwarfs.

Very nice, god job so far mate:) !

Very nice, god job so far mate:) !Thank you much! I think Ill be posting up some more pics soon. I just got my FW order yesterday so I spent most of the slow time at work today building my resin dreadquake! Dunno why I needed it I have 4 regular ones. The train is pretty neat though!

Update! A bazooka as a unit filler for my Blunderbuss unit, Yeah have 40 or so of them but what else would the Bazooka be used for…Dreadquake mortar is done pretty much just need to touch up the base and seal it. Started the crew up for it too. I need to do something more with the pipe cleaner deal that the ogre slave uses but I’m not sure what. On to the pics!
Comments? Questions? Suggestions?
Gunnerson:
So here is another update. I plan to get the Ogre done over the next couple of days I also hope to knock out another 10 or so blunderbuss. The next set I do will include a set of command. Below is the competed bazooka unit filler the completed crew and the mortar. I also completed a “base” for the crew. I figure I can just pop the dudes out of it as it takes wounds.

So I am at a loss. I have this odd thing happing when I clear coat my dudes. After I coat them the bases get a frosted look, it is very similar to using super glue near a clear piece of plastic like that of a windshield on a model car. The only thing I have done different is that I have been using Flames of War weathering pigments on the bases. I have tried the following steps:
Method 1
Apply pigment mixed with water
allow to dry
clear coat
result: frosted appearance
Method 2
Apply pigment mixed with water
allow to dry
(per suggestion of friend)
go over the pigment area with 70% rubbing alcohol
allow to dry
result: frosted appearance
I end up going over it again with some paint to cover up the frosted areas and more pigment with the same result. I end up just painting over it and coat it again and its fine. This “frosting” only happens where the pigment is applied no place else. It seems that I must be using the pigment wrong some how I just cant put together what I am doing wrong here.
