Folks. What do you think you can achieve with this email shoot-out?
Herby
Nothing at all. But it takes me 3 minutes of my life, so even if it doesn't do jackshit for the community it's still better than deliberately not doing anything because you know your voice don't matter.
At the end of the day the emails wont change a thing and we know that, but it's the only thing I personally can do instead, since I don't have 300£ to spend on miniatures right now.
Personally I dont think panic buying will change anything because its near christmas and FW dont know why you buy.

A properly written mail like fx Admirals is a way to let GW/FW know what you as a customer want. It`s better than doing nothing. Some time ago I worked in a interface department between software users and software developers. And there were a lot of mails. To most of them there were no public instant reaction but all of them were read and some of them influenced later developments.
When i was more involved in the community they were GW developers here on the forum. One guy in particular that ive played against a few times at warhammer world, He even had a chaos dwarf plog on this forum, He left Forgeworld a few years back so and lost contact with him.
this was like 2008. Ages ago. There was even a CD Forgeworld rumour on the rumour thread years ago but it disappeared in all the threads
I was told that the gentleman leaked a rumour on BoLS and no one believed him so he gave up. He didn’t specifically say what he leaked but it was something about daemon binding which may be where the whole daemonbinding fad started. But alas no one believed him.
Not necessarily a bad thing, though bad. When the next edition comes about, Chaos dwarfs could get a free PDR update, or whenever they get around to doing so. They have done this for a number of armies (Renegade Militia, Death Korps, Ork Mek Mobz, etc) and is somewhat effective. Lack of book does such for people who become interested in Chaos Dwarfs later on though…
I only ever saw Tamurkhan as a Legion of Azgorh list, NOT a full chaos dwarf army list. What do I mean by that? Its lacking in a lot of areas like a proper Combat Lord option, only one named character, no rules for Black Orcs. No Hobgob Bolt Throwers, or Sneaky Gitz. Its an expansion list for a Chaos (Tamurkhan) army. Not a stand alone list. We’d have more core and elite choices if that was the case. I see them getting a ruleset in the Chaos Army book for 9th edition as rare and special choices, as they seem to be bringing it all under one army/book, and you can fight with DoC/WoC/BM/CD in one army.

That totally makes sense to me. One thing though, isn't the WoC book a new release? If so, do you think they would ditch it so soon? It was my understanding that newly released Army Books would be integrated into 9th.

Some army books has been around since 6th or 7th edition. But WoC, Empie and Orcs n Giblins always seem to get armylists fast when a new edition hits.

I noticed when Smaug came out that it was written in the description that its pretty much a Forge World model. Im hoping this is just a sign of FW’s integration into Games Workshop and the next book we receive is a proper stand alone army book.
OK, you caught me. I’m actually homeless (can’t afford a mortgage when I have resin toy soldiers to buy).
Still, the point is that (contrary to what was said above) AIUI all the Army Books will be invalidated in 9th Ed, so there’s no chance whatsoever that Tamurkhan will still be valid. And if it were, why would they stop printing it?
It would be healthier to give up on the dream of FW dropping our book as being the dawn of a brand new glorious era for GW and CDs. It’s not. We’ve been here before. Our book’s been dropped, our models will likely be next. That’s not cynicism, it’s based on previous experience and just looking around… FW are dropping Warhammer Forge, and it’s nothing but wishful thinking to imagine otherwise.
