If you’re making a profit then keep them at those prices Just kidding, do as you think is right, although I’d say the £1.75 for the non-characters sounds okay to me, especially if units drop them to a cheaper price…
Very glad to hear that yours didn’t cost that much, lol
DAMN! They are so beautiful. I am immediately placing an order for the Lord guy, just so that you’re prepared for it. I only hope that I can do them justice, lol
Sounds good to me: any ideas on what each one would be? I have an idea to discuss with you via PM regarding this, if you’re interested. If not, then don’t worry Although being allowed to choose up to a certain amount of figures might be nice as it means that those that aren’t as great at painting don’t miss out (Something like £4.50, then people can get the lord or the sorcerer and a goon or three goons, for example… But, obviously, that’s your choice as well )
Soooo, Salute was a lot of fun. Just about broke even (give or take a few quid), not bad for a range consisting of 6 niche models
Hmmm I’m afraid that I will never get one …
Perseverance, Zanko, perseverance!
Website is up, currently I’m only trading via PayPal. Eventually I’ll sort something out with the bank, once I know this is actually going to go somewhere :cheers
Would you mind sharing some pictures of your centrifuge machine, or like film your entire casting process? I have a few figs that I have attempted to cast in metal (some scratch built plague bearers) and I can not get them to cast correctly. I just wanna see how the expert does it.
Lol then you should probably ask someone else :) This was my first large mould, I'm hardly an expert.
Next time I make a mould, I'll take some photos. What problems are you having? Is it the mould or metal flow problems?
I must admit I love these guys there so cool. Specialy painted. the way you have. Did you ever consider casting them in resin to keep your costs down. I am certain people would buy them if maybe you did them in regimental packs of say 20 strong all resin not unlike Fenryll.
Resin - hmmm! I can only see resin used for high detailed sculpts that can’t go into a normal casting process. And I really don’t think that using resin instead of metal will have a signifcant effect one price. What does a kilo of tin alloy/white metal cost? £17-20 per kg? Pretty much the same as a kilo of polyurethane resin - as far as I know.
And nice to see that shop is up and running - but like Grim I would like to see more use of you awesome artwork - just to give it a bit more ‘professionel’ look.
AWESOME awesome work baggroner!!! I was just about to put in an order and then I noticed that the paypal is not set up to include shipping. I don’t know if there is someway to have either paypal or your site automatically calculate it, otherwise it seems that we would have to send you the money for the models and then send you the shipping cost as a separate transaction.
clam: the pricing may be true, but I’d imagine that the volume of resin would be greater due to it having a lower density, but I’ve not used resin and am just speculating.
That’s right HB - you can probably have more casts from 1kg of resin - but you cant recycle any of it - like you can with metal. But yes you might get a larger volume of miniatures from it.
Have any one seen single miniatures casted in resin with a significant price reduction - compared to a metal one? I haven’t. A single 28mm regular trooper on foot is about £2-2.50 eighter metal or resin. Perhaps at a very large scale casting media will matter - but with these ‘small’ production runs - it don’t think it makes a difference (IMO). And don’t forget - real men only plays with metal dolls
I've emailed you regarding shipping. Didn't notice the missing shipping charge before it was too late
Yep, this will be fixed over the next couple of days. Or should be. Hopefully. Having a bit of trouble getting the % thing to work right, the mouseovers aren't working either which is annoying (when you mouse over the Dwarves, you should get a rear view too). Getting my webdude to go back into the code. For the moment, it'd be great if the £2 shipping could be sent separately or it may just be easier to wait until its sorted.
Just out of curiosity Baggronor, is there a 'we', or is it just you?
Do you use a melting pot?
What sort of rubber do you use? (normally in a spin caster professionals use a vulcanising press, but I know RTV 101 can be used without vulcanising).
My mate Mike is fulfilling the role of Downtrodden Minion for shows and general stuff, and I have a webdude who made the site. Mike might be sculpting the Goblins, so that should be interesting. Yes, Goblins. Not for a couple of months though :)
I do use a melting pot. It is regularly 310ºc and it terrifies me. Its very good though.
For now I'm just using RTV stuff. If things take off, I will upgrade to a vulcanised job asap, but at the moment its too pricey.
but you cant recycle any of it
This would be the biggest reason I'm not sure about resin. Metal is nice, if you screw up, it can be melted down. And I screw up regularly :)
Why would anyone in their right mind want to look at Scibor's site? Especially a sculptor. It'd be like a great playwright watching reality TV.
Thommy, what on earth did he do to you to garner such fury? :)
Thommy, what on earth did he do to you to garner such fury?
Haha, he just sucks, and you can't move on some forums for people lining up to fellate him and give him hundreds of dollars for his crappy conversions on eBay. And all the while, actual talented sculptors are struggling to make ends meet.
It's not a specific hatred I have - in fact, his recent work is actually pretty decent - it's just that this is a miniatures forum. If we were on a vampire novels forum I'd be slagging off Twilight with the same venom. Scibor is one of the many things I happen to dislike, that's all.
Can you buy some already? is there a online shop? or do I just have to send you a P.M. ?
www.titanwargames.com is my site, with a shop. Postage issues should be sorted by this evening (postage isn't adding) when I get home, so you might want to wait until then. I'll update it when its all sorted.
