I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan defending my country
Hammerhand
That's a hell of a thing to do, and I am very impressed. Unfortunately all I can do is offer you internet props :cheers. In all seriousness though I respect your courage.
The problems that Hammerhand is describing in the UK are much like the ones that the Canadian Forces suffer from over here. When we first went into Afghanistan our soldiers were kitted out with dark green forest camo, for example. The federal government tends to spend lots of money on obsolete helicopters that break down in the middle of the arctic ocean performing rescue operations, ground vehicles that flip over, and so on. Yet the the men and women in the CF still get out there and do their jobs, which is impressive to say the least.
On topic, I'm clearly not from the 'states, so I can't vote there and don't really have any right to pick a candidate. Canadians forget that sometimes, and our local news often has big stories about "which american presidential candidate do canadians support?" which is frankly absurd. However, I do think that having a member of a visible minority (either Obama or Clinton) in office would be pretty cool, and I might suggest that a superior candidate is one who could tone down the saber-rattling over Iran, and start to do something to repair the image of the US overseas. There's also the whole healthcare/education/ infrastructure/religion/military industrial complex/recession?/energy and soon water crisis/climate change thing to take care of. So, I think you guys should vote for someone perfect :)
well wilmark what about 1776 1812 1826 1861 1917 each one of these war were hard fought for the same reason as you said about ww2 . 3 of these war1776,1812,1917 if we lost the states would not be here. 2 of these 1826 and 1861 the states would be totaly be diffrent.what would of happen if the south won !! or if mexico won.or if the native amercan killed Columbus in 1492!!! the world would be so diffren. would ww2 happen if there was no united States.
iam not fighting eather. i just stating that all generation has challenges and the hippies are not all bad.
yeah, the french would either be speaking german or russian, and britian would be stuck in some kind of treaty that would sap our freedom.
then again democracy is a load of crap. i never voted to have smoking banned in public places, or for a doctor to be able to take organs from my corpse without permission, or for the education authority to ban ‘possibly offensive’ nursery rhymes. the whole thing is a farce. i must pay £4k a year tax and all i ever get of the government is excuses and a slap in the face. im sure its the same in America.
I think if we went back in time and removed the U.S from existence, leaving a gaping 1/3 North America sized hole in time and space, then things would probably have been a bit different 'round the 40’s.
Also, didn’t the war of 1812 happen when the US tried to annex the British-controlled Canadian territories? Also iirc the british/french/canadians burned the white house down. Hm, good thing it was two hundred years ago so we don’t have to worry about it!
At the battle of Thames near the town of Moravian town Canada October 5 1813 Tecumseh made his stand againts general Harrison . the British army was routed thew canada from ohio thew Fort detroit. a group of Canadain ranger and native amercans lead by Temcumseh stop the last envasion of canada .After Harrison seeing Tecumseh death he left Canada
Well tuesday has come and gone. On the Republican side looks like McCain is going to pull if off: 1,191 are needed for the Republican nomination and he has 479 AFAICR.
Democratic side is now tighter then ever, Hillary and Obama are in a virtual dead heat.
