Kera foehunter:

Ironic: ??

How these things happen, maybe he tried to find ya?? ( you don’t know )

But now that he has your attention ,you could work together to form a better Union

from this point on ??

Thommy H:

Given that he credited me with my real name, he must have been reading my posts on here. I’m very easy to contact.

I have no interest in collaboration on my projects. I’m quite particular about that. Sorry, Kera, I get what you’re saying but I take this kind of thing pretty seriously. I’m a writer who happens to do some work in this hobby, not a hobbyist just giving writing a try.

JonJon:

Thommy slow and steady wins the race in this type of thing, know exactly what you want from this guy, maybe even write it down, and be careful what you say and do.

Jon

Thommy H:

It’s okay - he’s agreed not to include anything of mine. He was quite reasonable and we have no problems as far as I’m concerned. I may have jumped the gun a bit, but I’m obviously going to defend my rights as a creator when I think they’re under threat. I’m not open source.

Come on where all a bunch of second class hacks..
We do this for fun ..

Its to funny how we take this stuff to heart
i know it took me 2 year to come back
:hat off

cornixt:

So this guy has basically compiled an army book by taking all the fluff and pictures from other people’s army books, then claims to be the author and simply credits the actual authors as “source material”. No wonder he puts it on Issuu (I sue).

Grimstonefire:

Yeah, but the difference is that I asked before I used it! The same goes for all the art in my book.

Thommy H
I take it you mean your most recent version.

Your original version I presume you also asked permission from every GW artist that you used the artwork from?  You credited them as artists.

Incidentally, I know it's a long time after the fact but you used some of my art in that original version without asking permission.  I would have said yes anyway, but it would have been nice to be asked or at least credited.

Still not got round to reading that actually all these years later, but it certainly looks good. :D

I seem to remember something like this happening to me many years ago here, where someone used my vision of the CD and my fan material to rewrite their own book. Can't remember the username, but I was not happy about it either.

Thommy H:

Yeah, I mean the current version - the original bears almost no resemblance to what it is now, and I’ve removed it from anywhere it was uploaded. There’s a version on Scribd or whatever it is, but I don’t know if I’d changed all the artwork by that time. I didn’t upload it anyway: can’t help what someone does with a years-old PDF!

Do you do the Immortal picture I used for a while? I thought it might have been you and I asked if anyone knew the artist (and I think you were posting in the thread at the time) but no one admitted to it. It’s gone now anyway.

There are a handful of incidental pieces that come from other forums that I don’t have permission for, and the Volgar picture from Dwarf Tales of course, but they’re explicitly credited for that. Not ideal, but I think my hands are relatively clean.

Grimstonefire:

Yes, the immortal pic was mine.

I mentioned that because it was a similar situation as here, where I believe you asked after the pdf was out (talking about the hobgoblin pdf in the opening post).  I can’t have seen you asking obviously.

Thommy H:

That’s the only example though - permission was sought for the rest before I ever posted anything. And, as I say, it’s not in the current version.

JonJon:

Glad it worked out

Singleton Mosby:

I can understand why you guys are upset about this. My wife is an artist and it quite often happens in that ‘world’ that work of one artist is used or coppied by another one…to make money. This happened to my wife on two occasions, once when someone all of a sudden used her drawings in lockets she sold. Quite a hassle to ‘correct’ that sort of thing as you can hardly do anything.

About the guy who makes these army books. Not so happy to read he does not ask his ‘sources’ permission. He is however my hero for making an Araby armybook which I am now using to create an Araby army. :yar

Thommy H:

Another thief. He’s used a lot of art from here too (often horribly distorted to fit the spaces he’s left on each page…) so if anyone else wants to go and make him feel like the creatively-bankrupt plagiarist he is, do feel free.

EDIT: He’s even a member here! This document appears to be the result of this ill-advised project.

Grimstonefire:

You are credited on the last page.

Thommy H:

No, some guy called “TommyH” is credited. My name is Thomas Heasman-Hunt.

Kera foehunter:

well he probably used tommy h because it more sexy

Thommy H:

I don’t know if TommyH is more sexy. I’ve never met him. I’m known as Thommy H.

Kera foehunter:

Well the h in thommy is silent !! but the second H In thommy H does the talking

That how they explains this to me in English class…

Baggronor:

I’ve said this before but for the benefit of lurkers and newer members, if you want to use any of my CD artwork (ie stuff that appears on here or in WoH), please ask. Usually I will say yes.

Going forward, all my Titan Wargames artwork will have copyright text and/or the Titan Wargames logo stamped on it. This work is off-limits (most of it won’t fit CDs anyway) and if I find people using it I will chase it up like I would any of my other non-CD artwork.

Come on where all a bunch of second class hacks…
Your work is still your work. Should be looked after like any other kind of property.

vulcanologist:

Too right Bagg! If you’ve worked hard at something someone else shouldn’t be using it for a free ride an maybe out of context too!
