This is exciting news. … I hope they get it right. Will be hard to compete with all the other dungeon crawlers out there, especially with the AoS setting.
Do you think we will see some new additions to your Chaos Dwarf WHQ stuff in the future, Nico?

It's a fair question! I've quietly been working on finishing up all of the preamble text, setup notes and special rules for all 61 quests in the adventure book. I'm not quite half way, but I started on the more verbose missions from the main campaign storyline (which can see the Adventurers gain things like their own keep/outpost or shared ownership of a mine where they can send their slaves to work and thereby generate Gold). I started back working on it about a month ago and moved it along considerably, so it's coming, finally!
I also had a small 2-Quest side story with the working title "Sorcerers of Change". After hearing about the new game I went back and made some small tweaks to the plot and added two additional Quests so that it culminates in traveling to the Silver Tower, with the Silver Tower itself being it's own little recurring dungeon. It will randomly change layout with each visit, and each time the party ventures within it's the foes will become more powerful. My plan is to have a custom Monster Level table for the Silver Tower so that the first time the party goes there it will be Level 1 foes, then Level 2, all the way up to Level 10 and finally a modified version of the Daemonic Monster Table for every visit thereafter.
Once the new game comes out I'm hoping the modular board tiles will be usable in classic WHQ and I'll be able to seamlessly roll out my expansion shortly after May 21st!
This means of course that I've got to get a move on ;) Oh, and I've got a 2nd Edition of my Roleplay book just about finished as well. Basically it's got some tweaks to rules, fixed typos, cleaned up inconsistent parts.
Sine the original WQ was essentially Warhammer squished into a dungeon crawl, I expect that this is AoS squished in the same way but hopefully without changing much of the way that WQ worked. Hope they make it cheap enough and with enough scenarios to be worth buying. There are so many dungeon crawls out there now that people can take their pick.
Bunch of photos from next week’s French WD have been posted here.
It looks really, really nice! I don’t think anyone should get too fixated on the ‘Warhammer Quest’ aspect though - it’s a callback and a bit of nostalgia, but this is almost certainly a stand-alone game with unique mechanics like the 40k board games.
Wow, that’s splendid! The miniatures look superb, and the Tzaangors must be a first-time in model form. It’s bound to cost a pretty penny, though, so mayhap the target audience is old WHQ players?
@Nicodemus: Good to hear! I look forward to see it. Besides, any plans for making this shifting ziggurat into a WHQ scenario? Dînadan had that bright idea.
Sigh. Four, FOUR races in the Order Great Alliance, and of course Lizardmen didn’t deserve to have a hero. I mean, 3 (3!!!) human characters, 2 Elfs & 1 Dwarf, but no goddamn Lizardman.
EDIT: apparently these guys are not chosen to represent the battle of Order vs Chaos, the French text above the pic states that the human barbarian is a “Lord of Chaos”…

1.) BOLS is not actually a trustworthy source for rumours.
2.) 125 , for an introductory board game makes Descent, Zombicide, Myth, Super Dungeon Explore etc. a cheap alternative. So not a much needed introductory product at all. Not even if they advertised it.
3.) Here the pics (coudn’t see them in the link):
4.) Onslaught over at Dakka grabbed this info from the French texts:
-Up to three friends including yourself can play the game -You play a champion who sets out to explore the Silver Tower either to seek fortune or to kill the Gaunt Summoner. -The box comes with 13 games tiles, all of them are reversible. -A 40 page guide -A 40 page adventure guide -Cards, tokens dice … -51 models, among which 6 champions to choose from (the Barbarian dude is a Chaos Lord). -125 euros
5.) Miniatures are in AoS style, so I’ll pass, as not one miniature interests me.
