Nothing is created in a vacuum. With that in mind, whose work has inspired you in creating your CDs? Bear in mind inspiration can come from anywhere. Bear in mind this is much different topic then: https://discourse.chaos-dwarfs.com/t/7025
This is more of how did you get inspired/are now inspired to construct paint your army. And don’t say: “its all because of Xander!” unless you want brown nose points!
I’ll start: 1) While not readily apparent (as it relates to my army) is Snotling’s work. His is the primary influence on my army. 2) Close second is Pulper. His Bull Centaurs on HoH has greatly inspired me, so much so I can’t wait to get to work on mine, (once I get the all of the damn parts that is, which if you have been following my army blog know how much fun that has been).
EVERYONE!! I look at everyones work and make it my own, well stuff i like. what got me started was the look of the 3ed edition models and i wanted to turn them into 7th edition(like cinderhat). well i stopped for about 1 year, which i did some other work(skaven, O&G .etc.) then on liberum online i saw xanders videos and encouraged me to make some.
I have two people who have inspired me on this site.
IMAHOBGOBLIN- Great stuff!
and…
The King of UN-cool- WILLMARK. (yeah, really)
My Chaos Dwarves look remarkably similar to both of yours. Regular Dwarf Warriors with Chaos helmets, greenstuff beards, & other evil bits. Red/gold/black paintjob.
Hopefully I can get some decent pics up soon.
Cheers guys!
:cheers
Here is a Slave for each of you to show my appreciation.

Thanks Bloodaxe. Can't wait to see your pics.
Also lest anyone think... this thread is not about fishing for complements ;) I was simply curious as to how people got to the look of their armies and who/what inspired them to do so.
the god of green stuff .Grimstonefire! his crappy stuff is still a 10!!
Well all of you guys do such diffrent stuff .How can you not be inspired by this site !!!!!!!!

Very true, very true, have a slave for pointing out the completely obvious!
Originally, the models made me start looking them up. Then, I went to Hand of hashut and lurked a while (cowers from boos of lurking AND HoH) then began posting. Eventually got some models. I don’t really let things conciously influence me and do my best to make them not affect me subconciously too (fairly good at it too). I think the only person-specific influence was Mr. Xander’s Siegeshakers. The rest is my onw. But, my army is largely unconverted. So, in short, the community as a whole generated my CD imagery. My CD imagery is where I draw my inspiration from.
ironically, i have been my own muse. sure this site has given me numerous ideas, but no one person in particular can be pointed out as helping more than anyone else. the site has kept me motivated by showing the positive responce to all levels of conversion and modeling, unlike other sites where people get ripped on consistantly for shoddy modeling. the atmosphere helped me get the army idea, the people kept me motivated.
Note there is nothing wrong with being inspired by Xander( or anyone) per say i’m judging pointing out: don’t say Xander (or anyone) anyone for purely the sake of saying it!
Have a reason is my point.
Additionally it could be pointed out that without Xander, none of us would be on this forum right now.
What made me want to collect Chaos Dwarfs? Well, I was but a Chaos player at the time, when my forum saw a sudden and random registration of two very active Chaos Dwarf players- Gharkan Steelsoul and metro_gnome. They talked about CD’s a lot, and made them prominent in the forum’s minicampaign. I thought the background for CD’s was really cool, and decided I’d collect an army of my own.
As for models, a guy named Madbob made me realize that pillbox helmets from brettonian men-at-arms made great smallhats, so I went from there.
I have no single muse but the Chaos Dwarf community as a whole has kept me going through the five or so years I have been playing GW’s basterd child. Special nod to Hashut’s Chosen - now that was fluff.
B ut hey there are alot of guys here besides modeling figures. This is a well balance site everyone helps everyone and there is no fighting here!I like to say the old guys shurly help us all …WE KNOW WHO THE OLD GUYS ARE . right willmark
Hotstuff on HoH, initially. This was followed up by a huge wad of concept art from another user on there, and by Grimstonefire and GeOrc’s project on ChaosZwerge. Then Snotling’s work, and then 300. And a slew of generic fantasy games, movies, books, and steampunk of the previous. Some I like to think I came up with for myself. :hat off
