[Archive] Zonk minis?

Timothy Archer:

heyyyyy hello fellow brothers and sisters

last time i was thinking about the Cd minis that i don’t have

and i know this guy reputation is awful because of the scams

but

i would love to have at least one of those …

curiosity …

do you have some miniatures to sell ? how much ? is the casting good or bad …

thanks :hat off

Abecedar:

I’m another without any in the collection but I haven’t bothered adding them to my list.

I have heard that the casting is good

Zanthrax:

Mine turned out pretty cool but I got them second hand.

The only issues was the feet somewhat cracked when taking the flash off from the casting. If I ever part with them I will post here first.

Zanko:

I own one of his AssCannon with crew.

The AssCannon is quite cool:

The Crewmen are a bit too massive, imo:

Sjoerdo:

I have the single models, will sell them for 100, each, since they are more rare than an asscannon and juggernaught combined :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Would love to get in touch with Zonk the Swindler, and see if he is willing to hand over the production rights…

Anyone know his full name?

Malorndk:

Am I the only one sitting here and while I do like some of the zonk minis, I think his business was so atrocious, that I would refuse to own the minis because their maker is the definition of a scammer?

Understand your sentiment, but for me the maker/artist should be judged on their work and their personality separately.

His take on big hat CD's was fresh, creative and showed skill. His approach to business and customers showed deviousness, cunning and disregard.

Some of the greatest artist in the history of mankind were terrible people.

I hope you mean Zonk and not Zanko the Swindler! :o I have nothing to do with Zonk and his criminal activities!

Willmark:

As a reminder Zonk was banned from the site for selling minis but not delivering them. While the Staff takes no part in transactions we obviously cannot condone that, buyer beware.

Jackswift:

I have to agree with Sjoerdo on this one. Many artists over the years have been terrible people with few redeeming qualities aside from their skill. The art stands alone and while I would likely balk at supporting him directly I have no compunction collecting the OOP models.

I have a small collection of Zonk models and keep an eye out for them on the rare occasions that they come up. The first one I acquired was completely by accident with a Bartertown trade where the guy threw in some extra models and one happened to be the musician. Took me a while to figure out what it was.

I tell myself that perhaps at some point I will 3D scan and print enough to build out a unit. Will probably never happen, since my 3D printer lies in pieces still.

Jackswift:

Casting quality is moderate amd the resin is somewhat brittle. The sculpts are for the most part creative and well done. A very chaos dwarf based but slightly unique take on the genre

Zanko
A thousand apologies, may Hashut strike me down with his fury for this terrible mistake.

Edited the first post, can only vouch for Zanko being a absolute valuable addition to the CDO community and all-round stand up and honest gentleman.

Zanko:

@Sjoerdo: Many thanks for the more than amiable, perhaps also somewhat exaggerated, words! :hat off

Yeah true the gentleman part was a bit exaggerated ;)

Anyways, I emailed Zonk at the mail address he used for his paypal back when I ordered the minis from him, so far no reply.

Zanthrax:

Did anyone get his bull centaurs or

Lammasu?

Carcearion:

WOW! What a shame! I’ve never looked at the Zonk stuff before, and I must say its really quite good.

Has anyone ever considered throwing these in an instant mold and passing the recasts around?

cornixt:

I’m sure people have considered it. While the CDO staff can’t condone illegal recasts, given how many people were ripped off by Zonk I’m sure many would consider such a thing to be karma.
