CDO Hobby Space

The cats live at my mother’s house along with my little brother. And they are certainly our masters and overlords! :hatoff:

This is where the magic happens.

Hobby desk is a high-adjustable IKEA desk with a big old cutting mat. Recent acquisition was a HobbyZone system which I just love. I use two IKEA tertial lamps with daylight bulbs for light. Under the desk you can see the foldable 6x4 gaming table.

This is the terrain-cupboard. In the bottom are tablescape tiles, for which I want to build a nice rack for storage. It’s a project further down the line tbh. Upper sections have unbuild terrain, eventually everything is supposed to be build here of course.

One of the things I always wanted to have are the two stacked Malm cupboards for my armies. I put self-adhesive ferrofoil on the bottoms and use large neodymium magnets to keep the movement trays in place. Picking up the units from above can be tricky (or painful, in case of units with spears), but largely it works. Four of the six drawers are already filled with the right models. Bottom has most of my Dwarf army:

Then we have the most important drawer, the Legion of Azgorh

The forbidden drawer holding most of my High Elves

And lastly the Ogre Kingdoms.

Haha, well I do like things neat! Hate cleaning, dig having things in their right spot. Also it helps with the cats when there is less clutter for them to sift through…

LOL

Figured we needed some realistic in-action shots of some hobby space… been seeing too many photos on Facebook of these immaculate hobby areas that are clean and pristine. To be sure, this isn’t setup for gaming at present, but I’m working on a 5-year long project project (the 4’x4’ diorama cabinet) along with reserving space for periodic painting of miniatures… and these are after cleaning!

This is where I’m currently assembling my GHXLII entry (hence the blurring)

Painting space is tucked around the other side of the spray booth, where the monitors are located. Usually I’m just listening to audio books with all those monitors

Space reserved only for Chaos Dwarf models in various stages of assembly, priming and state of paint.

Better view of the diorama cabinet with lots of the parts disassembled (for priming) and lots of the wiring pulled out for accessibility. For some reason I also decided that what the cabinet really needed was for the Chaos Dwarfs on the lowest level to have ducts and chimneys dug up through the rest of the above levels all the way to the surface, which requires modifying all 4 levels so they line up. Oof!

So yeah… this is where stuff happens… sometimes :dead:

Currently mine lokks like this :sob::sob:

Had to tear all the walls down to insulate properly. Finished the last bit today. Went from chewed up and broken 30mm thick pir plates to 200mm thick mineral wool.

I do have to keep reminding myself it will be all worth it… and with the worst now over motivation will rise again. But seeing the (truth be told badly) finished room go to bare roof and then this was not great.

Reconstruction, and some improvement, starts now. It will be a slow process where progress is dictated by available funds, time and energy. Funds are not a limiting factor at the moment… time and energy are… hehe
