Peg knights were a problem for me as well. Still trying to work out ways to counter them.
There’s … not much. With Fly(10), Swiftstride and Skirmish you can’t outmanoeuvre them, and the short range on our small arms fire means you’ll likely only get one round of shooting - if any. Best chance is probably a magic missile. Other than that you have to take the charge. They’re very good on their (first) charge, but if you can weather that with stubborn/shieldwall you should be able to wrestle them down afterwards.
… and then cav arrives.
Problem is You can not screen them with cutthroats as they will run them over and get Furious vs BO and IG.
Likely, yes At least the Knight lances are a bit better to control or outmanoeuvre (with Wolf Riders or something), leading your opponent to either overextend his Peg Knights or hold them back which is a small victory for you as you have now dictated their movement a bit.
But yeah, it’s a bit of sugarcoating here, a few units of Peg Knights and 1-2 One-Punch Duke/Barrons are top of the meta right now and we do not have a clear counter for those in our list. Lack of access to Illusion magic hurts again.
Have two Iron Daemons in the list, both the Peg Knights as well as Duke will have a hard time killing it That’s the only thing I can think of. And take away Swiftstride with the Dreadquake, that can also be vital. Direct hit will kill a Peg Knight too, that’s a plus. Deathshrieker and Hellcannon can be effective in forcing them back with panic tests. I know it’s only a FBIGO, but I think by now we’ve all seen units FBIGO-bounce some 20 inches or so. And I’ve also seen Peg Knights positioned far on the sides of the boards, poor placement can def have them FBIGO off the table. Small stuff like this.
I was thinking to place cutthtroats in an angle so a overrun will hit nothing AND will expose flanks to a charge.
I was also thinking of sneaky gits. Any success having them come in as reinforcements? Perhaps force the other player to deploy them to protect rear lines.
I want to play them. 1 unit can fly(12) with daemonology and shoot with 20 BS4 shots… This should deal some damage to pegasai knights!
Nice modelling, good choice of models including unit fillers, and exquisite painting! What’s not to love here?
Seeing the 90s big hat CD range alongside the newer architectural unit fillers on top notch lava rock bases with off-source lighting is a treat to be sure. (@Fuggit_Khan check this out.)
Hat off, sir!
I finally have played a game vs Bretonnia I wrote before.
Key elements were:
- Duke was on a 45 vision arc Hippogryph not on pegasus,
- Horn failed to shot my flyers turn 2,
- I have charged one pegasi unit with his mage in it with a Wyvern from one side and Khan from another (Khan evaded arches to get behind wood and into pegasi rear). Thanks to Khan’s presence my opponent was unable to flee my charge (Khan would kill them), I was able to dance around other Bretonnia units for a solid win. This also lead to some units panicking off the table too…
Thanks for Your kind words! This army is something new in my arsenal. Time-efficient paintjob. Some time-saving solutions like OLS bases and fillers and limited tones per colour. I am glad You enjoy it!
Your army looks great I must ask how did you do the bases and the glow on the models as well!
Alex
Sure. I have a cheap, portable airbrush I use. I used AK volcanic earth as a base. Then I airbrushed dark red where lava flows and on banks and from bottom onto a model. Then I painted lighter streaks with yellow/orange AK paint. Then I airbrushed darker fluo. Then lighter fluo. Then I picked up some streaks with orange and added so ice yellow on top.
I also drybrushed textured ground with off-black and then used pencil to highlight it. It is easier to do that with brush. All the glowy colours stays in the recesses and black drybrush tones down it a bit.

I think I will play Empire gunline with demigryphs and cav support. 2x3 Gryphs, 5 and 10 knights (10 with drilled), Steam tank and 3 cannons. Enginer, lvl 4 on pegasus and steam tank. Also 15 archers in units of 5.
I do not like fireglaives. It always does nothing useful.
Ha, I’ve resorted to fireglaives after finding the blunderbuss underwhelming. Maybe those axe and shield stans are on to something. Also, and this might speak more to my play style or lack of skill, but I’ve stopped paying for drilled on the IG, hasn’t felt worth it.
Let us know how it goes with this list, I do think it may not perform as well against a gunline due to poor mobility on core inf but I’m yet to face a gunline.
Well… Fly(12) can solve a lot of problems IF I get it. This is a simple game. My Flyers/ID wins before cannons kill those or not.
As I said, I really think the Lore Familiar (and potentially a power scroll) is an auto-include for your army.
… but I can not take Lore of Hashut with it so Daemonology has to stay random.
That is debateable! I wouldn’t be aware that lore familiar is played like this at the GTs
