So I’m not painting these Hobgoblin conversions as fast as I’d like…real life and other hobbies keep taking precedence…but anyways I’ve managed most base coats and starting details on essential Hobgoblin field gear (daggers, skulls and a bottle of grog).
But I gotta say, it felt good to paint some Goblin Green

Thanks guys
@Loidrial , For their hats and sleeves I’ll be painting them in deep dark tones of various grays and rust reds.
In fact I’ve lined up some gray colors that tie in with another of my hobbies: building 1/35 scale WW2 Italian military models.
So you’ll be seeing WW2 Italian Grigio-Verde Scuro, Rosso Ruggine, etc.
But I’ll also add decorative stripes and stylized Hobgoblin motifs to their clothing.
I have high hopes it’ll look both dark and gritty, but still with a 5th edition vibe.
@Bassman , thank you!
You’re quite the master of color tones, so I appreciate your compliment…and I’m assuming you’re referring to this skull:
I’m pretty happy how it came out (the other skulls are still a work in progress).
Call me a morbid bastard, but I painted that skull by copying a photo I found online of dead orcs.
Anyways, thanks again, I always appreciate all feedback and comments

Did you find a picture of an actual dead orc?!?!

@Bassman

And some very slow painting progress…I actually painted three tones of gray to simulate folds and wrinkles in his sleeves and cap, and of course none of it shows up in a bright light.
I’m realizing that my hand is not as steady as it was in my younger days.
The CD sorcerers stone curse is setting in, and painting small details is becoming more difficult.

Oi James, may I hop in for a second?
as you are making those awesome conversions coming from the hobgrots, I wanted to show this cool work, totally different than what we usually see, made from Matteo Gallo aka HAGENPINXIT on instagram
he started from the same hobgrots and made a skinny AoS evil as fuck chaos dwarf, hes so cunning and menacing, it blends so great all together, even if it’s something totally different than what we are used to look at

Damn, those are some exceptional sculpts!
Beautiful work, and the attention to the finest details is amazing.
I especially LOVE the shield on the chaos space marine (I’m guessing that’s what he is?)
Thanks for sharing!
