We had a long weekend down my way so I took advantage and got several hobby things in.
First I did a heap of priming:
This lot consisted of all the pipes from Kill Team Nachmund and the individual Thermal Plasma Conduit sprues I’ve picked up over the last few months, the barricades, the bases of crates from the barricade sprues, and some infantry for my Heresy Militia.
Then I painted the crate stacks, because they seemed like they’d be simple enough to do in an afternoon while quite tired:
These are counting as one model each.
Then on Sunday I managed to squeeze in my annual game:
A pretty new and pretty awesome game store is open nearby, and they ran a learn-to-play Horus Heresy game. The organiser was explicitly hoping to revive the 90s-style game store game with lots of focus on narrative and everyone getting excited about individual dice rolls and it was great fun. Everyone bought 500 point (ish) forces and plopped them down, but my side was a person down so I got to run 1000 points. Amazingly, I took the fewest casualties of any force on the table, losing only an Ogryn, three grenadiers and a Leman Russ turret, lots of fun, and it left me feeling vindicated about my choice to focus on Horus Heresy as my “playing game”.
Hopefully, of course, I’ll get in more - but at the rate I’m going over the last couple of years it’ll be ambitious to play more before the year is out!
Two off the pile, but a lot of fun has been had.
