Loidrial's blog - Pizza, Mandolino e Nani del Chaos

Boy here I am 6 months later, it’s gonna be a long reading, but gonna be worth, plus nice pics.

This year is quite strange for me, I spent the first 3 months recovering from surgery (all went fine) and now the next 3 doing so many things
Finally played with my band live for the 1st time (was a huge success, won the first 2 night of this contest nearby, 5 night in total)
Getting some new painting tricks along the way yoo.
Becoming friend with some extra Italian painters, which many of those won already some contests and Golden Demon as wells, helped me getting better. :eggplant:
Daily chat with those fellas and meeting them in person, is making me improve a bit. I’m a slow learner, but they are working their magic just by being there

Great thing happened last month!
Modena Play was such a huge hit! I i filtrated with some of those friends and we spent 3 days drinking, painting, drinking paint brush, eating and having fun

We exchanged so many things, from the food to the painting tricks (they did, I have nothing to teach anyone ahuaua)

The experience was a blast, we had the chance to meet and talk with Tuomas Pirinen (creator of mordheim) who was a guest to the event, we were spreading our eggplants :eggplant::eggplant::eggplant: through the entire miniature area and all that thing is slowly becoming a trend ahahuaha

People were so confused and fascinated by my eggplants hidden in plain sight in the display cabinets, painting tables.

We were giving them away like crazy, I printed keychains, we had hand sculpted one with faces on them, re casted in resin and gave away, and real size plastic one molesting and bothering everyone with then, just the presence was enough hauauaua

We even ended up infiltrating in the the painting contest, with a secondary one made by us, with the PREMIO :eggplant: MELANZANA - Eggplant Prize hauahahaha

I infiltrated my pizza chef and took some pictures at the many playing tables around

Just wanted to make a quick test (which took 3 days to complete…) As I never use purple and orange on my schemes
So here it is, not fully finished as I wanna redo the belt in a cream colour and finish the base, but I tried and learned things with the 2 colours I use the least

It was about time for me as well to start some 3rd edition CDs :cd1980:
My original plan for Golden Hat XLI was to recreate this John Blanche artwork

But as usual I overestimated my discipline and will to paint, by the time I had to submit my entry (the master of Madness) I had complete only 3/8 models out of the entire diorama

While yesterday I almost finished the 4/8 model

So here are some wip on how the whole thing is going on

So the idea is to have those slots where I can remove the models. I made them slightly small so the miniature sometimes gets stucked in lol
But this is how I roll, I do random shit all the time :eggplant:

I’ll take better pics of the single models once everything is done

What a fantastic idea. I love these models. I saved up and got them when they first came out. Your painting does them true justice. I ca not wait to see them finished.

Very nice indeed. Just glad that I didn’t choose my Master of Madness who is still on my bench

Ah madness, be. model was my winner. The idea with the diorama, what you see with the miniatures, truly blessed by Hashut and exceptional.

Not only winner of the hearts, and I am looking forward to the finished result…

That looks so good! Hadn’t really reflected on the fact that MoM has red armour on the box art… fantastically executed as usually! :cd1991gif:

Lovely idea!
I didn’t enter this contest (too many other projects on my workbench), but I did consider sculpting a John Blanche CD from his glorious artwork in the 4th edition CD army book.
Again, I bailed outta entering, but it warms my heart to see that you had the same idea of homage to the GW Master himself…well done my friend!

Haven’t posted in a while, but the diorama is almost complete :eggplant:
In at a stage where I have to base everything, add tufts and all of that
The 8 models are finished and I had fun with my first freehands ever, gonna leave those here

Didn’t take pictures of the dwarfs yet

These shields are amazing. The best is the “melanzana” (eggplant) one, of course! Be Hashut and the Parmigiana with you :fire: :love_you_gesture:

Did miguel gorri on facebook beat you to the punch? Had to look very carefully to make sure it wasnt the same one

yeah… saw it today and i was “who the fuck posted my shit??” at first glance
dam it feels bad
he did a great composition although his paint scheme is simpler than mine.
sucks to be second in something you had no idea was becaming a race

but after all i’m slow as usual so it’s my fault lol

I agree yours is better painted :cd1980:

I studied it and it is oh so similar but also little differences. Great job eddie

Being slow as fuck is a curse, because my head is filled with projects i want to make, but my body doesnt cooperate with it
But i finally finished something!

Man this thread resonates so much with me, I feel so identified about having many ideas, open projects and barely ever finishing anything (however you’re FAR more diligent than me when it comes to ACTUALLY finishing things)
