The season of joy, cheer and jolly has gone by, and the year of endless slavering turmoil of bringing the legions of Gray Warriors into the line has started once again.
And for the third year, we will battle the ranks of unpainted warriors, spreading colour to the world and the fields of battle. And not only the red of the enemies blood!
And of course to add another shiny badge to the collection, in the hopes of grabbing yet another step up from the previous ones until that Blackshard will be reached (fat chance, as if I can ever resist my impulse buying…).

Let’s kick off the year with the first actually completed project for the year, long live two days of “doing nothing” after a (ran to late / early in the morning) NYE gathering with friends.
And that is the Blood Bowl team that I will be using this year in our club’s league, Only Fangs, a team of Chaos Chosen dedicated to Slaanesh.
The models are by Sukubus Studios, and I still need to paint up some side models as well as two more linewomen once I get to them. But for now it’s an 11 player roster to get going when I play my first game near the end of the month.

And so my holiday period comes to an end, back to the night shifts from today on. But not before having finished some more models during these long quiet days at home.
First off, I finished two more linewomen for my Blood Bowl team, to be able to add them to the roster hopefully over the course of the League.
And I also completed an Earth Alliance Omega Destroyer for some good old ACTA gaming, complete with it’s full compliment of Thunderbolt starfuries.
And so far a strong numbers start for the year, as the first mailorder is already underway… but more on that later.

They came from the Mists, the Muder Hobo’s…
Finished at last some of the coolest looking models in the game, The Shadeborne (Nethermaze edition still, not the rereleased ones) from the Mountain of Shame (not calling it a pile anymore).
However, as I’m not a fan of painting them almost all black and dark blueish grays, I went for a more mist-y effect, so I guess they are the Mistborne instead?
Now to get them to the table from some glass cannon torpedoes action!

Today was the perfect day to pick up a random SH box as price support for an event I’m running in three weeks…

Time to get some stuff finished (well apart from the Golden hat entry, which will pop up here later as such).
A Hyperion Pulse Cruiser variant with accompanying Aurora fighters for Babylon 5 A Call to Arms.
In other news, I also grabbed a Golden Ticket to the Warhammer Underworlds world championship in Barcelona, so go me!

Another warband for my beloved Warhammer Underworlds has been finished, this time being the Knives of the Crone, a bunch of tricky to play, randomness galore aelven.

So many warbands! The stonework on these is striking.
Would love to see all your warbands together!
I’ll arrange that this week, though over time some bands have been traded away, as I mainly tend to stick to the aelven bands for play (they just suit my style the best)

As they are all over the place, I compiled them into a little videoclip, added benefit is being able to upload something to my YouTube channel lol.
And eventually, I’ll be trading away all the non-Aelven warbands in this clip, as I just love playing my pointy eared, gracefull warriors…
The warbands
With GH45 behind us, I can add my entry here and to the tally for this month of painting, so that’s another 11 models finished woop woop.
Not like it would have been any suprise which entry was mine…

A small adition to the collection, whom I just always seem to have missed out in the past.

The first thing I actually got finished this month isn’t to spectacular, a wraith for the Frostgrave random encounter chart.
The model is an old Games Workshop plastic I still had lying around, the Sea Giant from the Dreadfleet game.

A fresh unit for the Idoneth forces, as I finally finished the first of to many units of Reavers I have lying around.

The road to Felstad continues, as I finished my Witch warband for Frostgrave.

I love your paintjob on these guys. It makes me think of historicals: nice, clean and economical brushstrokes that do heaps of work on the tabletop.
Thanks, it is a thing that influences my paint style a lot, I guess I “learned” it way back in the 90s and 00s from the articles by Kevin Dallimore. On the Wargames Foundry website, most models are still painted in such a way, and it lends itself very well to the cleaner lines of historicals and the likes. And very handy when you have to paint brigades or 60 to 80 blue coats a time
I missed the whole “grimdark”, blending and contrast washes train when that became a thing though, being rusted in my ways of ancient times

In totally different news, but just because I am both proud and amazed over the fact… Last weekend at the Warhammer Open Maastricht, my Shadeborn (finished earlier this year, scroll up) where selected for the Showcase for Warhammer Underworlds.
Didn’t win (for all right and reason, that honour deservedly went to those Dread Pageant), but still amazed over the fact my style of the old days made it all the way up there…
