MrMelons Malefic Minis

Hi there, I’m starting a Chaos Dwarf army for Old World and I thought I’d share my progress on here for some feedback. I’ll have more pictures to post tommorow. I currently have a forgeoworld Iron Daemon, goblins which I am converting into hobgoblins, and an Auric Runemaster I’m converting into a sorcerer-prophet

As you can see I’ve already started some stuff, I wanted one of the hobgoblins to look like David Bowie from labyrinth in case I want to use him as a boss.

Furthermore, has anyone ever used the end of Bic pens as hats for chaos dwarfs? I found one yesterday and it looks like good potential for a hat, though I’m unsure if it’s too small.

I’ll be putting it on converted dwarf minis when GW puts them back up again

I also painted this a while ago, while technically not fantasy, Space Chorfs fit here I think

Some progress updates for today

I bulk up the space between the chest and legs to give them a bit more height, makes them a bit more hobgobliny.

Attempted some lamellar today for variety

Welcome to the forum! Love these conversions. Impressive sculpting, and great idea increasing the goblins’ height, it works perfectly in my opinion. I’m looking forward to seeing more :hatoff:

Only a few updates today, I’m going to be attempting that fyreslayer kitbash that was suggested on here and Reddit a while ago to make a sorcerer-prophet

Small update; I didn’t want them all to have spears so I’ve carved some weapons out of plasticard, looks good I think!

Making a few more leaps and bounds since I want to try and get to an event at my local store on the 29th

If anyone has any suggestions on how to clothe up the top half of the hobgoblins I’m open to suggestions, sculpting cloth around their arms and chest has proven quite difficult so I have stuck to doing the little piece on top that’s just a square. The skirts are pretty easy though.

The night goblin 6th ed. sprue mixes well with the goblin sprue. Might help you?

I considered them but I thought that their silhouette was too distinctive as night goblins, and since their bodies, head and legs are only 1 part I would have to saw them apart to make them taller.

No they have seperate legs and bodies…go back in time to the multipart nightgobs just re-released for tow. I mixed a couple up a long time ago…

Oh no kidding; yeah that does look interesting actually. I’ll look into it, thanks.

Apologies for a lack of posts for a while, I have been moving out, but I am happy to report some major progress.

I bought some plague monks to convert into sneaky gits and I am very happy with the results:

I used some spare goblin feet I had from my previous goblin sprues to replace the skaven feet, and I cut off the knifes to switch them to be upside down in a reverse grip. I also cut off any pustules or overtly skaven looking bits and then I used my spare goblin heads and then green stuffed the hats. This isn’t all of them mind you.

I also have my murder boss and musician custom built:

I was able to use these wonderful drumstick looking things from the skaven kit to imitate the classic hobgoblin drummer and his pose.

Let me know what you guys think and if you have any more suggestions. I am also thinking I will get a night goblin kit to make into archers and use their shields for more accurate hobgoblins.

Good concept and a bit better execution than mine! Think I did archers as well using Ungors, but don’t have the time to scroll through atm. [WFB 8th] Tjub's blog [Table of Content in first post] - #46 by tjub

Hot off the forge! I’ve started my first kitbashed blunderbuss wielder

Doing this while drinking corona isn’t easy I tell you

If anyone has any tips of sculpting beards I’d be happy to hear suggestions. I don’t really have a particular aesthetic in mind, I’m going for a kind of fusion of classic and legion of azgorh, like in TWW3, so I have some forge world infernal guard but I wanted some more 80s looking guys as well as my base infantry.

The hat is what you see earlier in the thread, it’s from a bic pen that I crushed and took the cap off, looks good I think! There are some slightly bigger ones in different pen brands I might try. I’m also going to green stuff a few to imitate the classic dudes.

Let me know what you guys think as always
