Black orc command almost done. In my opinion these turned out better than the previous batch, partly because they are in fact command models, but also due to the dark metal details, which takes down the red domination a bit. I am thinking to go back and do some more armour parts this way. What do you think? And does anyone have any ideas for the flag?
I always thought that flags for hobgoblins or black orcs should be ones that remind them of their servitude, like an image of the Tower of Hashut, or maybe chains, or some other oppressive image.
That’s a good point, I should browse through some pictures then.
I still haven’t tried any freehand business on the banner but I still felt like celebrating the 10 blorc mark. I also went back and painted all gauntlets in a blackened metal style, which I am quite happy about. Also I added some rusted details. I will probably do all the bases in one go at some point.
Hobbying has been slow lately because of a busy schedule. However, last night my chorfs saw battle for the first time in a 2 vs 2 escalation league game, 750 points per player.
Chaos Dwarfs together with Chaos Warriors gloriously defeated the Bretonnian and Dark Elf intruders!
Not the best picture but you can see my infernal guard holding the left flank and my daemonsmith on lamassu attacking the dark elf infantry.
Working on some goblins, while also figuring out a transport and storage solution for my new army, meaning that this is my first magnetised batch of minis . I also did the basic work on the bases before attaching the minis, which I think will save me some time.
I bought primarily 5x2mm magnets as 5x3s only fit certain nonstandard manufactured bases I had on hand.
I ended up getting a metal tool box for cheap and placed my Chorfs and ogres entirely inside of it. They’re very secure and didn’t cost much.
I bought 5x2 mm and 3x2 mm, the smaller size being mainly for goblins. As for the case, I got the Arny Transport Backpack from Green Stuff World. I’m honestly not very impressed with it, but it will work for now.
I have started painting the goblins. 40 is an overwhelming amount but at least these guys can be painted very quickly. (Unlike the blorcs, whose sculpts can be a bit frustrating.)
More goblins and a black orc boss conversion project. I got some second-hand parts and this chariot. When I’m done he will have a magnetised foot so that he can go on foot or in the chariot. Later I will add some shields, a banner pole and some more spiky stuff to it.
Not the most cinematic photo - it’s literally just some plastic models in a drawer - but it shows my progress since the beginning of this thread and I thought I would share it here:
Getting there! Gotta get that Taurus done!
Blorc boss on foot base painted. Next I will probably paint some more goblins before moving on to the chariot.
I played my first 1 vs 1 game of Warhammer TOW against Bretonnia and it ended a draw. I really like the Sorcerer-prophet with daemonology but struggled to get my blorcs and iron daemon to actually do anything. (It’s difficult in this matchup though, isn’t it?)
Btw, any tips how to smoothly play motley crew?
Yes, depending on the enemy list you’re outmanoeuvred. Deployment is key. You have have the advantage against bretonnia in the shooting phase, so he has to charge something. That’s where your heavy hitters are waiting.
Yes, ignore the rule completely. Just equip the unit uniformly. Motley Crew and Skirmishers are quite cumbersome.
My buddy and I took the 2nd place in a TOW tag team tournament today. We had some really fun games!
I still struggle to do anything other than denying points with the Iron Daemon, however.
Some pics from tonight’s game against the high elves. I went very aggressive with the sorc and managed to break the seaguard character bunker after a couple of turns, but with only one wound remaining! Meanwhile his dragon was wreaking havoc in my backline, but I ended up on top.
