I like the the new twist using the blue.
Very nice!
Thanks! I tried not to overthink it and went with a colour similar to my Lamassu. I don’t know if makes sense lore-wise.
Btw, my current project is to finish this chariot:
I had these lads printed. Today I primed and based them. I really like the design (Meanmanindustries)!
Very cool, kind of blends Legion of Azgprh with a little Nurgle
I played a game against the filthy Lizardmen renegades down at the local club last night. We had our two armies essentially avoiding each other, but I scored just enough points to get a small win. By Hashut’s name, those skinks are annoying. And it is very hard to shift a wall of T6.
I ran a blorc bigboss in a chariot for the first time and I definitely see some potential there.
This guy posed for the camera:
What a nice surprise when it turns out these can be painted almost as quickly as goblins (to tabletop standard at least).
I love the crisp gold!
My projects are very scattered at the moment with so much new stuff to go through. I had a faulty rattle can of Citadel Leadbelcher that I had to replace before I could prime the heavy machines. Now all is assembled, based and primed and I have started painting some of them.
Suddenly I have a big goblin block! Only seven remaining now.
My second Iron daemon (meshymesh):
Unit filler by meshymesh, because why not:
The goblin block looks great. Very standout color. Nice unit filler too!
I managed to grab a win against the nasty sneaky wood elves tonight. 2k TOW.
MVPs were the Iron Daemons and the Sorcerer-Prophet on Bale Taurus. My Black orcs, for once, also did surprisingly well and survived two different charges by enemy cavalry. In both cases my Sorcerer-Prophet was able to arrive on time to save the day. On turn 4 his bunker containing a lvl 4 wizard and the BSB failed a terror check and ran towards my Iron Daemons who were ready to finish them off. We called the game at that point.
To be fair, my opponent was trying out a new build based on the new Arcane Journal, and that list was less than ideal against mine.
I’ve been working on this for the past couple of weeks. Now I’m almost looking forward to painting some rank and file again.
On the gaming side I got wrecked by Bretonnian Exiles the other day. That list was brutal - I honestly cannot grasp how they can fit so many good things in 2000 points. However, using the new rules the single-use falcon horn and changes to vanguard are a big relief. And my Infernal guard are much more resilient now. Btw my dice rolling needs some improvement.
Making some progress with these guys. Not sure yet what role they will play but at some point I will for sure try some combat dwarfs.
I got this from an auction site, it arrived in the mail yesterday. Would you build this kit using spears or bows?
On the gaming side I have played some more games, trying out new things each time. I am still not sold on going down the war machine path, although such a list worked extremely well against Wood Elves (this was the first time I ever tabled my opponent). I also played games against Tomb Kings (medium loss) and Dark Elves (minor loss), the two latter ones with less gun focus. Blunderbusses are fun, combat bricks perform well, Iron Daemons are still robust, but I’m not sure anymore about the sorcerer on Bale Taurus - 475+ points seems a bit expensive for what it can do in the post-FAQ world.
Id do a mix of both spears and bows. It means you can use either as you wish.
Making some progress with the wolf riders. Mixing up the weapons, as @Zoddtheimmortal suggested.
The wolf riders are almost finished but I will add some final touch before I post them here. (I got some good painting advice on our Discord.)
They did well in tonight’s game against Warriors of Chaos. We played King of the Hill from the Matched Play Guide, using scattered terrain features and break point. Lots of dogs were slain by the wolf riders, and after they had cleared their flank, they returned to the center to throw (my first ever successfully cast) Ruby Ring of Ruin onto some Chaos knights.
My Infernal Castellan munched through a Gorebeast chariot in one turn and had some good overruns.
The Iron Daemon shot and killed a Dragon Ogre and later charged and killed the rest of them. At that point my Infernal Ironsworn had walked up to contest the hill in the middle.
My hobgoblins played an important role by positioning themselves to be the only target of two charging knight units, which kept them busy for two turns.
The Infernal guard (with fireglaives) did an amazing stand against a Daemon prince. With the new rules for infantry they challenged him out and CR:ed him to death.
The Dreadquake mortar and the Daemonsmith didn’t do much this game except a single wound here and a dispel there.
Luck was on my side tonight, but I do see some potential in this list archetype (made possible by the Renegade pack). I might play around with some black orcs instead of the Infernal guard, but the Castellan and Ironsworn will most likely stay in my lists for some time.
