Re painting my classics

So this was an interesting one. I made centaurs in the past. (Slayer dwarfs on horse bodies) I was pretty happy with the conversion but they don’t go with the new painting style so I thought I try one (I was also very curious what would happen when you strip a conversion with Dettol(it survived)) I could not resist adding a little extra armour to cover up the saddle.

Wanted to stay within the colour scheme of the army but didn’t want to paint their skin green or blue so I tried red (I have a folder full of cool mini’s that I took as inspiration)

This is the result

Already stripped 2 more

Thanks for the kind words guys (:

Working on more. But I need some input/feedback.

These are my Hobgoblins that I already painted.

I kinda really like them already. The bases have the wrong colour but I can fix that easily.

Here a test pic of one fixed base next to my newly painted dwarves. What do you guys think? Do they fit? Should I re-paint them or maybe just add some purple on the blades (and shields and banner)?

(Added some extra detail on the cd on the right, really happy with that but that’s not the point of this photo)

Oh and I need a musician for this unit, there are no official models (or I don’t have those) the plan first just use a vanilla dwarf form the same age but I though maybe use this Squad model and give him a drum and a chaos mutation and go with that.

Id probably redo the hobbos hoods red and purple, same with the shield rims to fit better with your cds. Rather than repaint the lot

Thanks Zod.

Here is a bit more work in progress while I’m at it

Nice work! The added bits on the horse body really add a lot to the minis!

Could maybe add some purple in things like the shield to bring them in line a bit, then again they are a different unit altogether so may look quite good standing out from the rest

Sickly green not bright green. Lovely touch

Painted this lovely set. I’m really enjoying using the bright colours. It’s not really an army yet but it might take some shape.

The fuse and flame I added myself to give the model just that little bit more character.

I was looking at that fuse!! Very nice touch indeed, been gluing some of my cannons and leadbelchers together lately and it annoys me that none of them come with a fuse!

@Deebo thanks. It was an easy conversion. Just some twisted wire with dab of greenstuff.

Tried adding some purple to this Hobgoblin. Think it might work.

Painted his shield red at first but using green and red on the same model can be tricky.

thinking its the little but of purple on the blades that makes it fit. will do a few more and make soe pics to see if it really works

Painting is one thing. Making pictures a whole different skill all together. Not all are perfect but I finished my first new unit so I’m celebrating with a ton of photos.

!

And some single miniatures
