These are some of the best centaur conversions around. Lovely. How much of those troll slayers did you have to cut off and which horses did you use?
@Zoddtheimmortal Thanks! fore these I used Chaos Marauder horses. I just removed the legs and used some milliput to extend it to the horse body, here is a old work in progress pic
its only after I started making more (the final tally was about 18(enough for a horde in 8edition that I did field at a tournament just because)) that I realized I cut up classic miniatures and I remember feeling quite bad about all that. This is one of the reasons I’m re-working and re-painting them now so at least they will get the respect they should get and hopefully see a few tournaments. There are some pretty amazing plastic slayers out there. if you would ever copy this idea. please use those (;
Here a old pic how i used to field them on the battle:
I started painting my CD’s under ravening hordes so the are on cavalry bases. Then the the new rules came out (making them Monstrous cavalry) and I didnt feel like re basing them so I made spacial bases with the right sises that they fit in so. Now with the 9th ed. rules they can be both so i’m really happy with my basing.
Smart bases for centaurs, might rebase mine in a similar way
Yes! Genius solution mate. Means they are still compatible with older systems too
Your bases make me feel inadequate LOL They are so damn good, in my time I think I have only ever done 1 or 2 cool bases the rest are plain Jane glue and flock ! I need to pick up my game
Thanks @Deebo (: good bases are important, especially with caf as there is a lot of room. But it can be simple, i just use some cork and few stones (and use left over bits of greenstuff to sculpt the wonkiest of sculls) while painting just make sure a few bits stand out and you’re done (:
Finished my musician. Pretty happy with the result
Don’t think he will be really good at the music bit, maybe hitting the drum with his claw but you only need a simple beat.
Yeah, he seems a bit clawmpsy for playing music
10/10 would not accept a haircut from him. Haha. Great paint job as always!!!
While I was reworking my Hobgoblins (I’m at 60% now, will share pics once the unit is done) I also reworked my Kadai deamons. I made these years ago, they are simple blobs of milliput, greenstuff, some bits from the bitsbox and chains.
Think I mostly used them as unit fillers (they weren’t so great and I already had fallen in love with the centaurs).
Anyways here the are (all the purple is new):
And as a unit:
More soon (:
Mate these are so good! Totally original and brimming with character ! Great work!
I think your green fire spirits (that’s how they look to me) are brilliant too, they have a lot of character and flair. I would love to see more of your creations.
@Zanko fire spirit. That’s a nice name. I’ll keep that in mind. And thanks. Here is a bit of things to come. I have about 7 classic chaos dwarf crossbow men and then I realised I still had some the self made chaos bodies so I can up the unit to at least 12 and have the option to sculpt some tentacles and big eyes.
Waiting for the crossbow to arrive and then slap some paint on these.
Pretty happy with this model as the unit champion/leader. It’s a crew member that already had a damaged hand
(Under 9th age I have no use for them but that’s no reason not to paint them)
Very cool unit, I’m looking forward to seeing your modifications!
You’re right of course, who cares about any table-top rules with such beautiful models?!
Quick update. Got my crossbows and just finished these 3 quick sculpts to get the unit up to 12.
Could make 3 more so they’re 15 and that’s a minimum for flintlocks under 9th age but I don’t want to sculpt right now I want to paint classics (:
The weather turned lovely in NL so I was outside walking instead of inside painting. Or well mostly (:
Such a cool colour combo, nice work again @Bolg

you are going as fast as a train! i really like a lot the 1st one with the pointy helmet
i have those too from the 3 warmachines but i dont remember now witch one is who
Thanks @GhraskDragh I kind of feel in love with the purple I bought (:
@Loidrial funny you should say that. Haven’t really painted anything the last 2 weeks.
Luckily I finished a few of these.
These haven been painted at least 2-3 times already I repaired then and found some wolfs that go with them.
For bloodbowl I painted my snotlings orange, I’m kind of done painting greenskins green and I just bought this awesome orange paint. It works well on the 3rd ed models. Now my Hobgoblins have 2 different skin colours but they are totally different models to do I think/say/hope I get away with it.
Hope to round up the unit soon.
Update!
Finally had the time to finish a few models again that where at 90% for to long…
Not all photos are as good as I hoped still sharing them as I’m happy I got something to share.
Love this model so many options how to paint it, glad I gave myself a limited pallet. Tried painting him like the centaurs. Custom plasticard shield works well I think.
The plan for his sword was plain metal at first but the model lacked colour so.
And this guy is definitely the unit champion
All together (:
And a little bonus.
Painters a classic chaos dwarf crossbow guy along one of my own stand ins to fill the unit just to see if they would fit.
You can see the lack of difference in detail but the stand in will just be in the back rank so only his eye will get some focus.
Got some printed crossbows so the entire unit will carry the same and that should help for the unity.
(And it’s the crossbow from the HeroQuest expansion and that’s something that really makes me smile)
More stuff to round up so hopefully more soon.
