Reaver's Grey Shadow over Innsmouth [BATG 2026]

In 2025 the deserts of Araby claimed another victim. Reaver Brianson now buyer of a Thousand Sons. Decrepit as a liche entombed in sand, with nothing to show but a sea ziggurat searching for land.

And now, in the bleak greyness of a coastal New England township, a bank of heavy grey clouds settles in from the coast as the wanderer returns to a basement apartment. Heavy, oppressive, humid air rank with the smell of detritus and lingering second hand convenience store cigarettes wafting from the neighbor’s foyer. Stepping through the threshold across puddles of water, not quite dried from the most recent flooding of old unserviced drainage pipes, cracked and rusted, allowing filth from the city streets to permeate the dwelling.

The man, once an artist of no renown, returned to his boarded up studio, a room with neither windows nor the hope of natural light. Prying loose the squeaking boards, disturbing a scuttling house centipede, he stepped into..

the grey.

He couldn’t help but shudder in the unnerving space, derelict, yet eerily alive with the memories he had hoped to leave behind. Otherworldly mold covers all with its dank, foul smelling embrace.

For the past year he had wandered, a bitter cynical man, running from the embrace of the modern consumer, yet finding temptation around every corner. Piling boxes in the abandoned room, finding no joy in life’s simplest pleasures.

He found temporary reprieve from the voices in his head while in the fresh air of the mountains. During the time spent returning to home, the insidious bitterness would seep back in like a grey fog.

Left to wonder, what on this earth could end such appalling grey madness.

Was hoping to get something painted before first purchase. Alas, the grey mist has settled over the bog and entrapped many, sinking under the weight of metal.

I’m in the Bogwyrm campaign for an army pack but expect to keep the character, command, and one regiment.

Excited to see the support for metal chaos dwarfs! I’ll await them eagerly and force myself to commit some infantry regiments to contest prizes.

In the meantime, I have been painting. Nothing too exciting but I hope to be in the negatives soon.

Finished these full sets of board game minis for Tokaido and Namiji. Namiji boats were partially pre-painted but I’m snagging the credit for finishing up the paint job.

Pretty chill gateway board games. I’ll be looking forward to revisiting them now the minis are visually distinct.
