To all who may have interacted with this young man and may have wondered why all his accounts have disappeared. I’m very sad to say Corbin passed away this summer. Memorial and obituary for Corbin Fahy-McLear
I’ve posted my thoughts to the memorial wall on the page above.
RIP Buddy.
It’s natural to have questions at a moment like this, so I just wanted to add that this was all he left us with when he suddenly quit the community a few months ago.
It’s reassuring to have a clear message reminding us all that the feeling was mutual, and that he enjoyed our company. Ultimately, it’s not for us to to know the details, so instead we can know we were a happy memory of his.
I remember being on voicechats with him and some of you on the long nights after my son was born (the famous “baby asmr” painting sessions). Hobbyists all over the world have the book he worked so hard to help put together as a key part of that team (anyone remember his mad font ID skills??). Those are the things I’ll remember.
His passion for archival work and forums was legendary. If anyone could have returned Bugman’s to it’s former glory it was Pyroven. Rest in peace brother
We will definitely do a female dwarf artisan’s contest in his memory someday. He brought such great spirit to hobby hangouts, discord, and here on the forum as well.
His paint job on your Hashoot sculpt is definitely solidified as my headcanon scheme. Hope we find the finished photo of his castle hat somewhere.
I am not mega involved n the forum at the moment (the flow of life. Things wax and wane ) and so have missed this news and I am a little late to post here.
Ken just contacted me to let me know.
Corbin and I spoke a little on voice chat but not much. He was a good kid with boundless energy and a love for all things oldhammer and old internet. A true archivist and collector.
He very kindly gave me a load of necromunda scenery a while back and refused payment.
It’s in a bag in my garage gathering dust right now but I think painting it up and getting it to table may be in order in the near future.
Painted it up and used the scenery in a 2nd 40k game with @chitzkoi and @Habitual_Lurker this weekend. Good to see it getting some use, especially with CDO friends.
Folks, I am Corbin’s Mum and I just found this thread.
I wanted to thank you all for your comments here and on his memorial page.
As you can imagine, it was a dreadful shock to us. Corbin had a bad day on Sunday 28th July and we had a welfare check on him late that evening. He convinced the police he was okay. He wasn’t.
I would like to ask about that final message he posted (04.29) - what time zone was that? It might have been the last message he sent anywhere. He had already disposed of his phone earlier in the day. He appeared to have wiped all his online accounts.
This was very sudden. He had a bad day - and he was found in the early afternoon of July 29th.
Thank you for being his friends and his community. He was a loving and beautiful human xxxx
Thank you so much for posting here. This means a lot to the rest of us. I still think about him often and still talk to friends and my wife about him.
With regards to timezones, I’ll reach out to Xander - he owns the site and would likely know where the servers are hosted.
As a parent (father) my heart goes out to you and your family.
[EDIT] - His message (above) was from a discord chat it looks like. Discord messages are recorded in UNIX time (so a universal ticking clock) and the time is then converted when messages are viewed so that they show the time relative to the current viewer’s timezone. In this case I’m guessing the timezone was @chitzkoi 's, assuming chitzkoi was the person who took the screen capture??
We are all so sorry for your loss. Nico is correct, it’s my screenshot that shows what time it was in Seoul, South Korea. The time in Copenhagen would have been 8.29pm the previous day, and in the UK it would have been 7.29pm.
