Beginning my Chaos Dwarf/Helsmiths of Hashut journey starting today with the acquisiton of my Helsmiths box. Going to use this thread to document my journey building and painting the army.

Hell yeah. I hope you enjoy delving into Hashut’s dark secrets, I certainly did. I’ve never had the experience of getting a big box set of a new army with the collectors book and fanfare, the unboxing experience was great.
Only thing that dulled my hype a bit was the first of the two boxes I ordered came without the sprue for the War Despot. Here is hoping GW sends out a replacement, or I can exchange my box, or something.

The Battletome itself is quite beautiful with how the art and the lore are presented. I still have to read it over some more, but very impressive stuff by GW. My one disappointment is that the painting section is just 2 pages and really associated with the Spearhead. I miss how older books had more about painting and such.

Huh, I noticed that too. I was really keen to find out how they did the jade on the bull taurus in the advertisements but I think most of the painting section was reserved just for the war despot. Such a shame.

Box has been assembled. Very enjoyable process, very smooth building process. Going to try and prime tomorrow or Monday and start painting next week. HOping future Helsmith kits are as enjoyable to assemble

Yes!
The instructions and sprues include the Cohort with Swords or with Spears. The same goes for the Dominator Engine it can be built with the maces and you can build the Deathshrieker Rocket Battery instead of the Tormentor Bombard.

The red and gold are obviously nice but I also really like the skin tone you’ve done too.
The black gems remind me of obsidian which is a great look

Thank you! They are actually a dark purple, a bit of Shyish on the model to represent their gathering up of Nagash’s resources

Oh that’s cool, it was a bit weird to see red in the book for our Shyish faction as like yourself for me Shyish = purple 
though I think I may be leaning into the red for mine.

I think it goes into their disdain for everything around them 
But yeah, I liked the lore of Zharr Vyxa so the red scheme was for me. I’m looking forward to painting more models in this scheme!
Still building mine, but I really love this box! I think that I’m going with Zharr Vyxa (scheme and lore) too, I love the nautical theme too. I hope that they explore this side of stuff (I want a mechanical kraken!)

Finally time to do an update. I have finished painting my Infernal Cohort with Hashutite Spears and am have them readied to varnish tomorrow or Saturday (weather permitting I can get it done tomorrow morning). Some pictures and behold my beautiful paper plate to spray matt varnish onto

Lovely stuff mate, I’m loving how popular the Pirates seem to be, though I am seeing plenty of all sorts of colour schemes which is fantastic after all these years.
I also really like the colour choices for the skin and those charms they have hanging from the belts, is that a green/Incubi Darkness?

Thank you so much! For the charms, the one in the back is Nurgling Green that I washed with Targor Rageshade and the charm on the champion model (hammer wielder) is Castellan Green washed with Targor Rageshade.
