[TOW] Let's get competitive

Interesting. I suppose so, and with the recent faq, also add a point of AP

Does choppas work for assailment spells? :see_no_evil_monkey:

Well, no, we reached an agreement here. Impact Hits are not a weapon.

Only Spectral DoppelgƤnger, as it is done with a weapon.

Right, agreed. This FAQ would imply the same: Frequently Asked Questions | Warhammer: The Old World

Wait, you’re right. I missed the part in cursive about the choppas rule applying to weapons.

Appreciate the offer. I’m a stubborn fool who has to make everything original.

Decided on that list. A friend suggested to switch one Khan with i.e. Sneaky Gits… What do you think about them? I would not Ambush them most of the time but keep ten on a flank. Not sure od there is value im such units. And I loose LD 10 on hobgoblins.

All the recent posts made me think about Black bosses and their configuration. Wyvern and a 354 build seems to be the best choice for maby but are there any other playable builds? Especially for a Warboss?

(Black Orc) Boar Chariot, Great Weapon and Trollhide Trousers are a great option for a Bigboss, with an additional Effigy of Mork if it’s a Warboss. (so basically the same build as the Wyvern just on a chariot)

The adventage is having extra 4 WS4, S6 attacks from BO crew, right? And more impact hits than Wyvern has stomps (not to fogert about 2 boar attacks>?)

Exactly. On a charge, a chariot is definitely better than a Wyvern, especially a Black Orc chariot with great weapons. It just lacks the boost to toughness, but at least gives the same amout of wounds. And, and that must not be underestimated, a chariot is immune to both Killing Blow as well as Monster Slayer. Eat dirt, Bretonnian Blender Duke

I will give it a try! LEss mobility but way more punch.

Looks great! I think Meteoric+Amulet (5+/5+) is better than Silvered Steel but I guess it is situational. I wonder IF a hero on foot needs armour. I have used carpet before with no estra protection and kept my mage within infantry blocks to keep him safe from harm. Or You could even drop armour completely.

Over all I really like it. I like my hobgoblins with command to get +4CR but 90 nakes is also great.

Cant wait! I did submit my 2 lists for 1st round of our league too. We have played a delayed tournaments before (finished 3rd/13) but we changed new edition to league so that we play different people. Swiss means we play same guys after game 1

Well the bretonnians kicked our butts. The fast moving knights slammed into us.

What went well: earthshaker disrupted the charge and killed two knights. The shooting every other turn resulted in the gains being lost. The hobgoblin bolt throwers going through multiple ranks. Ruby ring of ruin, torched half the Pegasus knights. The lvl 2 sorcerer on the lammusu breath and charge.

What didn’t go well: everyone was scared of the blunder buses and couldn’t engage. Their reduced movement couldn’t get them into combat. Brick of 40 hobgoblin archers did nothing, fled and got run over. Could never get a charge. Dice rolls on dispelling (didn’t have control on that one). Pegasus knights charged off the table and came in behind us after winning a charge combat.

Overall did better than the last time but can’t seem to counter the bretonnian knights fast charging.

It is important to notice that bolt throwers works differently that in previous editions where You were rolling until You failed to wound. Now bolt throwers pierce all ranks but each rank is hit with less S.

Cutthroats need a khan to be great. 180ish points for +4 static combat res and 3 WS5, S6 attacks to bump the score.

You did no damage with blunderbusses? They are great vs knights in general. Especially those charging You.

Guys - smaller games with no ā€œlordsā€.

I keep thinking that lammasu with it’s one-of-the-best breath weapons in the game and 2 magic missiles is a great way to go… T4, W5 is not that great but still better than most infantry heroes.

Another thing I consider is using 3 bull centaurs in games like this. 3 centaurs are 5 wolves, khan and 10 cutthroat equivalent sadly… Still thy need a specific list where there are other more juicy targets for enemy shooting.

The price of the centaurs and lack of points make me go for badland ogres more often. They do tend to die though
I find you want at least a 5+ ward on the lammasu. I am very cowardly with it. Its just for breaths and spells or maybe charging a cannon. You can squeeze in a 2nd caster in 1200 for insurance

I do have 2 casters in 1250 list. One on Great Taurus. I do consider a second one on Lamassu.

How many of You have used 2 ID in a 2k list? It feels for good and bad as it drains so many points. And it feels Hellbound is important in a list like this…
