[TOW] Let's get competitive

Sorry if this has been covered, but gearing up to base and make ‘trays’ for my Ironsworn. Looks like they are needing 10+ in a unit…is that regardless of them being in a Regiment? And is it correct that if I have 10 Ironsworn, I can only take little units of 5 Infernal Guard as their Detachment units?

An idea. 2x Lvl Daemonsmith Sorcerer on Lamassu with breath attack. ·200 point flying hero to harass flanks.

Did anyone tried this guy?

So its 265 with the breath , lvl 2 and 5+ ward

Its great that he isnt the general. Up the flanks he has more chance of evading magical dispelling resistance. He is toughness 4, 5 wounds, 5+ armour.

I kind of want a stone mantle, ruby ring and 5+ward on him.
He might be able to kill war machine crew in combat but not much else.
We really dont have much to keep him alive
But its nice to not have all your eggs in 1 basket. Its a big part of the army having 6 levels of magic at 2k.
Can we take 2 talismans of protection? 1 on each sorcerer. The app lets you…

No, it’s not extremely common, so one per army.

Ruby Ring on Khan!

I love this idea, will definitely force the enemy to deal with them. Would that be solo, with cutthroats, solo wolf or with the wolf riders?

To me a wolf khan with wolf rider’s are a great distraction for pretty cheap and 360 firing while kiting the flanks and rear is the go.

I have no idea which set up is better. Extra move or flight used to screen.

I would go solo IF there is no enemy shooting. I would Field him faaaar flank outside enemy mages. And let the rest of the dogs screen or hunt flanks.

Khan in a Unit of Cutthroats is great to push them to LD10, but for me he really shines on a wolf. Whether you put him solo or with wolf riders depends a bit on what you’re facing. That LD bonus for the Wolf Riders might be nice, but when he’s solo you have two units to harass and redirect instead of one.

Solo on foot makes little sense to me.

When i used wolf cav and wolf khan i had them running around the enemies flank rather than infront of them and it distracted a third of his army including a dragon mount for 3.5 turns.
100% worth it imho

Extra move or flight upgrade?

Also … does Wolf gives Khan any of those rules?

People recommend both but since i kite the flanks ive never used flight but reserve move definatly from my experiance. depends on how you want to use them i guess

Yeah try to afford both. Both are very good special rules and just give you more tactical flexibility.

The Giant Wolf confers Fire & Flee on the Khan. If he joins a unit of Wolf Riders with Reserve Move, he can do the reserve move as well (it’s a “majority of the unit” type situation). There is no definite word on whether this is also true for Feigned Flight, have to discuss with your opponent.

Reserved move need bows right? Or is Ruby Ring enough?

Needs a missile weapon, magic missile doesn’t cover it.

An idea.

1-2 units of 25-30 hobgoblins with Khan. LD10. Bows. Maby Overseer’s Sigil… 2 huge LD10 blocks for cheap.

Yes, I think that’s a common approach for Hobgoblins.

Remember you only need the Overseer’s Sigil if you want them to benefit from a BSB. If not, the Khan is enough to boost their LD to 10 (with 3 ranks, of course)

Man… I do not want to paint 60 goblins! Plus maby 20 Sneaky Gits…

I feel that. But Hobgoblins at least look good with a rugged, dirty look, that means drybrushing, contrast paints and washes can do a lot of work for you.

It’s actually really easy to batch with contrast in my opinion. You get to know the sculpts pretty well
